초등 사회과 교육과정의 국가 의식 관련 내용 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등 사회과 교육과정의 국가 의식 관련 내용을 분석하고 국가 의식함양을 위한 교육 방향을 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 국가 의식은 국가의 구성원인한 개인의 국가에 대한 인지적·정의적·평가적인 작용을 말한다. 국가 의식 함양을위한 시민 교육은 시민들이 같은 지역, 민족, 또는 국가의 시민임을 인식할 수 있도록 하는데 영향을 미치며, 이를 통해 국민적 일체감을 형성하여 사회의 통합에기여한다. 사회과 교육과정 3~6학년의 국가 의식 관련 내용 분석 결과 첫째, 민족‧역사의식과 일체감을 중심으로 국가 의식 관련 내용을 다루고 있었다. 둘째, 국가 의식 관련 내용이 고학년에 집중되어 있었다. 셋째, 고학년에서 민족‧역사의식과 국제 관계 관련 내용의 비중이 크게 증가하였다. 넷째, 상징의식과 통일‧안보의식의 학년별 연계가 부족하였다. 상징의식은 3~4학년에서만 다루고 있었고, 통일‧안보의식은 5~6학년에서만 다루고 있었다. 다섯째, 국가 의식과 관련된 직접적인 내용 표현들이 거의 드러나지 않았다. 국가 의식 함양을 위한 교육의 방향으로 국가 차원의 공동체 의식, 미래지향적 통일‧안보의식, 독도와 역사 분쟁 해결을 위한 올바른 역사의식, 민주주의 가치에 기초한 건설적 애국심을 실천하는 시민 의식이 필요하다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to observe the data regarding national consciousness in the elementary social studies curriculum and to come up with educational ideas to develop national consciousness. National consciousness can be defined as a citizen’s cognitive, right, and evaluative behavior towards the one’s country. National consciousness development through civic education has a big influence on citizens to recognize themselves as members of their communities, nations or countries, which contributes to social integration. The results of analyses on national consciousness in the social studies curriculum (grade 3-6) can be summarized as follows: 1) the curriculum deals with national consciousness by discussing national and historical consciousness and the unity of society, 2) it is concentrated in the upper grades, 3) the number of topics regarding national and history consciousness and international matters has increased in the upper grade curriculum, 4) the connection between lower and upper grades is weak.5) direct topics regarding national consciousness are rare in the curriculum. It is necessary for students to have national consciousness as follows: a community spirit at the national level, future-oriented unification and security consciousness, right historical consciousness to settle the conflict over Dokdo, civic consciousness to have constructive patriotism based on democratic values.
