한국 고등학생의 한민족 정체성과 재외동포 인식 간의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 민족정체성 유형을 네 가지로 구분하고, 이들 유형과 재외동포 인식간의 관계를 다면적이고 다층적으로 조사․분석하였다. 분석 결과, 한국학생들은 재외동포에 대해 긍정적인 인식을 하고 있었으나, 세부적인 내용에 있어서는 ‘잘 모 르겠다’는 응답이 많았다. 둘째, 단일혈통 민족의식이 강할수록 재외동포의 인정범위와 내용에서 부정적이거나 유보적인 태도를 취하고 있었다. 셋째, 재외동포에 대한 위계적인 구별이 부분적으로 나타났다. 곧 재외동포 거주(출신)국의 경제 수 준에 따라 그들의 생활수준을 평가하고 있었다. 이러한 분석 결과를 바탕으로 몇가지 제언을 하였다. 첫째, 재외동포에 대한 체계적인 학교 교육이 필요하다. 둘째, 재외동포 교육을 위한 교육 자료의 개발과 보급이 필요하다. 셋째, 학교에서의 재외동포 관련 교육의 저변을 강화하고, 재외동포 관련 교육에 대한 전문 학자들의 관심도를 높일 필요가 있다. 넷째, 재외동포 관련 교육에 대한 연구 및 교육 실적이 누적될 수 있도록 학회지 등을 통한 기록화 작업을 더욱 강화할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The study investigated how differently Korean high school students perceive overseas Koreans according to their national identity. For the purpose, the researcher categorized national identity into four types,examining and analyzing multi-laterally how each type is related to the students’ perception of overseas Koreans. The findings are as follows: firstly, Korean students had positive attitude about overseas Koreans, not understanding them fully; secondly, the stronger national identity based on ‘one-blood nation’ they stuck to,the more negative or reserved attitude they held concerning the recognition range of overseas Koreans; thirdly, national awareness toward overseas Koreans showed partial hierarchical distinction. In other words, they evaluated their standard of living according to their residential country. The researcher suggested the followings based on those findings: firstly,school curriculum should provide systematic educational programs about overseas Koreans; secondly, the government should support development and distribution of teaching materials for the programs; thirdly, the government should provide administrative and financial support which will induce the interest of education experts; fourthly, the results from related researches and performances should be accumulated through building a database.
