This paper is about effective teacher education and classroom application for college students in the EFL context. This paper aims to prove that reflective teachers can improve teaching and inspire their students to communicate in English in the global society. Related topics on education and reflective teaching are also discussed.
Reflective teachers will be responsible for their professional development. Teachers themselves can be inspired by authentic materials like TED Talks and certain theatrical films and utilize them in teaching students. This kind of documentary video can be more real and give valuable lessons to the students more than traditional textbooks or feature films. Based on the archived videos in the Internet and films that inspire teachers, the researcher will discuss how reflective teachers can inspire and motivate his or her students so that students will be able to use English to express their thoughts in the meaningful context. Students are encouraged to develop oral presentation skills and write reflective journal to organize their thoughts. In the further research, qualitative aspects can be achieved through interviews and observations in the classroom. It is recommended to conduct researches on how reflective teachers guide students to improve four language skills in English
