국문 초록

본 연구는 유방암 환자를 위한 온라인 서포트 그룹에서 감정적 서포트를 제공 하거나 수용하는 커뮤니케이션 행위가 어떻게 사회적 스트레스를 완화시키는가를 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 237 명의 유방암 환자 회원들이 (1) 그룹 내에서 주고받은 메시지, (2) 그룹에 로그인한 기록, (3) 작성한 설문 내용을 통합하여 최종 분석 자료로 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 온라인 서포트 그룹에서 감정적 서포트를 주고받는 행위는 인간관계에서 비롯되는 스트레스를 완화시켜 줌으로써 환자들이 암을 극복하는데 도움을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study examined the social stress-buffering functions of expression and reception of emotional support in an online breast cancer support group. The data used in the analysis resulted from merging computer-aided content analysis of discussion posts, action log data analysis of system usage, and longitudinal survey data collected from 237 participants in an online breast cancer support group. Findings indicated that the expression and reception of emotional support buffered the deleterious effect of unsupportive intimate relationship on breast cancer patients’ coping strategies.
