대학생의 사이버일탈 설명요인에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 대학생들을 대상으로 하여 사이버일탈의 설명요인을 알기 위해 그 주요 설명요인들을 긴장이론, 사회학습이론, 일반이론, 그리고 기회이론 등 네 이론으로부터 도출하고, 어느 이론과 설명요인들이 우위에 있는지를 알아보는 데에 관심을 두었다. 서울시 대학생 762명을 대상으로 조사한 연구결과는 여러 요인들 중에서 기회인지도, 인터넷이용시간, 그리고 상대적으로 그 영향이 다소 약하긴 했지만 익명성 등 전체적으로 기회이론의 요인들이 사이버일탈을 잘 설명하는 것을 제시했다. 본 연구에서는 부모와의 긴장 등 긴장요인들의 영향력은 미비했고 학업긴장의 영향력은 유의미했지만 그 영향은 부(-)적이어서 긴장이론이 지지되지는 못했다. 사회학습요인들로는 기존 연구에서 어느 정도 중요하게 작용했던 차별접촉이나 정의 혹은 태도의 영향력은 매우 낮았고, 또한 모방의 영향도 낮았지만, 대신 강화요인이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 기존연구에서 가장 중요한 요인 중 하나였던 개인성향으로서 낮은 자기통제력의 경우는 비록 그 영향력이 유의미하기는 했지만 기회요인들과 비교해서는 영향력이 작았다. 이 연구결과는 기회요인이 중요했다는 점, 그리고 기존 청소년대상 연구와는 다르게 사회학습요인들중에서 차별접촉이나 정의(태도)의 영향력, 그리고 긴장과 낮은 자기통제력의 영향력은 낮은 점을 발견한 데에 의의가 있었다.

영문 초록

This study tests a relative efficacy of four theories such as strain, social learning, self-control, and opportunity theory to explain university students' cyber deviance. Using data from 762 university students in Seoul, results show that opportunity theory is more applicable to cyber deviance in that opportunity factors such as the perceived opportunity, internet usage time, and anonymity have a strong explanatory power in explaining cyber deviance. However, this study does not support strain theory because parental strain has no significant effect on cyber deviance and strain in scholastic activities has a negative effect on cyber deviance. In testing social learning theory, results reveal that both differential association and definition regarded as strong explanatory factors in previous research have no significant effect, but differential reinforcement factor has a significant effect on cyber deviance. In addition, results show that low self-control has a significant but small effect on cyber deviance, even though it is one of the strongest factors in prior research. This study interprets those results because strains, social learning, and low self-control factors have indirect effects on cyber deviance mediating by opportunity factors. This study finds that opportunity factors are important in explaining cyber deviance, but in contrast to research on middle- and high school students, differential association, definition, and low self-control have no strong effect on university student's cyber deviance.
