영문 초록

The objective of this study is to find out the health status of the aged over 65 and the utilization of hospital and medical services by the aged. The results of the findings of the study are as follows; 1. The proportion of the aged presently covered under the medical insurance scheme enforced since 1977 rose to 27.9% in 1981 from 19.1% in 1979 and 22.1% in 1980 2. The aged formed 3.5% of those covered in 1979, 3.6% in 1980 and 3.9% in 1981 3. Of all cases treated under the scheme, 0.7% were those of the aged in 1977, 1.1% in 1978, 1.6 in 1979. 1.9% in 1980 and 2.0% in 1981. And the frequency of utilitzation of the aged to the scheme or all age has incessantly risen;it was 0.2, 1.1, 2.1, 3.6 and 3.9 in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 respectively. The frequency of utilization per person of the aged was 0.6 in 1979 and 1.0 both in 1980 and in 1981. 4. The diseases of the digestive system, diseases of the respiratory system, diseases of the nervous system and sense organs and diseases of circulatory system formed more than half of all cases treated of the aged covered under the scheme in 1981. And of all adult diseases, diseases of circulatory system formed 30.9%, diseases of the respiratory system 17.1%, diseases of the digestive system 8.6%, mental disorders 8.4%. malignant neoplasms 7.0%, rheumatism 4.9%, diabetes 2.0% and diseases of genitourinary organs 1.1%. In regard to the cause of death, the diseases of circulatory system marked the highest (38%), symptoms and signs and illdefined conditions was the second(36%) and malignant neopolasms was the third(7.8%). 5. The duration per cases treated of the aged was 3.60 days for both sexes(3.91 days for male, 3.39 days for female)in 1980 and 5.57 days for both sexes (6.12 days for male, 5.18 days for female)in 1981. 6. The frequency of utilization of in-patients per 1,000 aged persons was 42 in 1979 and 48 both in 1980 and in 1981. 7. Of the total medical care cost under the schem, that of the aged formed 3.6% in 1980 and 3.8% in 1981. And yearly medical care cost per aged was 14, 500 won in 1980 and 16, 300 won in 1981. Medical care cost per case treated of the aged was 21,303 won in 1980 and 24,032 won in 1981 and medical care cost per day treated was 5, 917 won in 1980 and 4, 315 won in 1981.
