어머니의 언어적 통제가 남자 중학생의 일반적 신뢰에 미치는 영향과 긍정적 관심의 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 남자 중학생이 지각한 어머니의 언어적 통제(인성지향적 통제, 지위지향적 통제, 강제적 통제)가 '일반적 신뢰'에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고, 이 과정에서 긍정적 관심의 역할을 알아보고자 하였다. 일반적 신뢰가 높은 사람은 대부분의 사람들을 신뢰할 수 있다고 생각하고, 나에게 선한 행동을 하리라 기대한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 일반적 신뢰의 형성은 일차적으로 부모와의 상호작용의 결과로 이루어지는 것으로 보고, 부모 중 특히 우리나라에서 양육에 더 많이 관여하는 어머니가 사용하는 언어적 통제방식에 따라 일반적 신뢰가 어떻게 달라지는지를 알아보고, 이러한 통제가 아동에게 어떤 관심으로 받아들여지며, 그것이 일반적 신뢰에 영향을 주는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 위하여 P광역시에 위치한 두 중학교에서 1학년과 3학년 남학생 총 144명을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 먼저 각 요인들 간의 상관분석을 하였고, 어머니의 언어적 통제가 일반적 신뢰와 긍정적 관심에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해서 중다회귀분석을, 그리고 어머니의 언어적 통제와 일반적 신뢰의 관계에서 긍정적 관심의 매개효과를 알아보기 위해 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과를 요약하면, 지위지향적 통제(형식적 지위와 사회적 규범이 강조되는 통제 방식)가 높고 강제적 통제(설명 없이 신체적인 처벌이나 언어적 위협, 또는 명령을 통한 통제방식)가 낮을수록 일반적 신뢰는 높았다. 인성지향적 통제(사회적 관계나 개인의 내적인 특성에 중점을 두는 통제방식)는 일반적 신뢰에 영향을 끼치지 않았다. 그리고 지위지향적 통제와 강제적 통제가 일반적 신뢰에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 긍정적 관심이 매개 역할을 하였다. 즉, 어머니가 아동에게 형식적 지위와 사회적 규범에 따른 통제를 빈번하게 사용할수록 일반적 신뢰 수준이 높았고, 이러한 관계에서 아동이 부모로부터 긍정적인 관심을 받는다고 인식할 경우 일반적 신뢰 수준이 더 높았다. 반면에 처벌이나, 언어적 위협 또는 명령을 통한 통제가 빈번할수록 일반적 신뢰 수준은 낮았고, 이 관계에서 아동이 부모로부터 긍정적인 관심을 덜 받는다고 인식할 경우 일반적 신뢰 수준이 더 낮았다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 언어적 통제유형에 따른 일반적 신뢰 발달 과정에 대해 논의하고, 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구에 대한 필요성을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines the influence of the mothers' verbal control patterns (person-oriented control, status-oriented control, imperative control) perceived by male middle school students on 'general trust', and mediating effect of perceived positive concern. High truster beliefs most people are trustworthy and expect good behavior to me. In this study it was presupposed that development of general trust results from the interaction with the parent at home. We examine effects of mothers' verbal control patterns on general trust and positive concern. Furthermore, we want to know the role of perceived positive concern in the relationship between mothers' verbal control and general trust. For the purpose of this study, questionnaire survey was carried out on a total of 144 male students from 1st and 3rd grade in middle school. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis in order to analyze the effect of mothers' verbal control patterns on general trust and positive concern, and hierarchical regression analysis in order to analyze the mediating effect of positive concern. The major results were as follows : Mothers' status-oriented control (that emphasizes the formal status and social norms) had a significant positive effect on general trust, and mothers' imperative control (that is used without explanation with physical punishment, verbal threats or command) had a significant negative effect on general trust. These effects were mediated by perceived positive concern. However, mothers' person-oriented control (that emphasizes the social relationship or internal characteristics of the individual) had no effect on general trust. In summary, when control with more normal status and social norms is used, the students have high general trust, in this case if the students recognize that they receive more positive concern from their parents, they have a higher general trust level. But when control with more command or verbal treats is used, the students have lower general trust, in this case if the students recognize that they receive more negative concern from their parents, they have a lower general trust level. Finally, based on these results the implications and limitations of this study are discussed.
