노인의 의사결정 유형과 참여도에 영향을 주는 자원

국문 초록

본 연구는 현대 사회에서 급격히 증가하고 있는 노인 집단의 지위 하락의 원인이 그들이 소유하고 있는 자원의 상실 및 가치저하에 있다는 점과, 가정관리행동의 중심이 되는 의사결정에 관한 연구가 의사결정의 결과뿐만 아니라 과정도 포함시켜야 한다는 점을 이론적인 바탕으로 하여 전개되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 확대 가족내의 여자 노인을 대상으로 가정내의 권력관계나 지위를 반영하는 의사결정에 관한 실태를 살펴보고, 자원이론에 근거하여 의사결정과 노인이 소유하고 있는 자원과의 관계를 규명하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 노인의 개별자산과 용돈액수가 많고 생활비와 용돈을 스스로 해결하며, 주택을 소유하고 있고 자아존중감과 가족결속도가 높은 노인일수록 의사결정의 영향력이 증가하였고 의사결정과정에도 적극적으로 참여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 노인의 경제적 자립능력이나 가정의 사회경제적 지위를 나타내 주는 변수가 노인의 심리적 자원에 크게 기여하고 있었다. 따라서 노년기가 될수록 경제능력을 비롯한 각종 자원을 확보하여 자녀에 대한 의존도를 줄이고 자립능력을 강화하는 것이 노인의 가정내 의사결정권의 강화와 참여수준의 상승을 물론 심리적 복지감을 동시에 보장할 수 있는 방안이 될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the decision-making of the elderly within the family and their own resources. A questionnaire was developed and data was collected through individual interviews with 330 elderly women living with their married child in Seoul. The data was then analyzed by various statistical methods such as Frequency, Percentile, ANOVA, F-test, Pearson's Correlation Analysis, Multiple Regression Analysis, etc. The results of this research are as follows. First, decision-making patterns and participation levels in decision-making process among the elderly had significant differences according to personal resources, family environmental resources, and psychological resources. Second, psychological resources of the elderly demonstrated significant differences according to personal resources and family environmental resources. Third, among all resources affecting decision-making patterns of the elderly, self-esteem had the highest effect and the next were cost of living source, home ownership, the elderly's age in order. In regards to the participation levels in decision-making process, the most influential resource was the elderly's age and the next were self-esteem, home ownership, housewife's employment status in order. Throughout the results of this study, we can see that various resources, economic resources, in particular, have a significant influence upon the decision-making patterns and participation levels in decision-making process among the elderly. Also, these results support Resource Theory that power lies in the comparative resources of each individual and imply that a combination of personal effort and social policy is necessary for economic independence in old age.
