<현몽쌍룡기>에 나타난 친정/처가의 형상화 방식

국문 초록

본고는 <현몽쌍룡기>의 남녀주인공을 통해 혼인 후 새롭게 관계 정의를 내려야하는 처가와 친정과의 거리 조절을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. <현몽쌍룡기>의 조무ㆍ정채임 부부에게서는 소인형 장인을 멸시하고 처가를 박대하는 남성인물과 친정에 대한 끈을 심정적으로나 현실적으로 놓지 못하고 남편의 핍박에도 불구하고 유지하고 있는 여성인물의 모습을 확인할 수 있다. 조성ㆍ양옥설 부부에게서는 처남의 반란행위로 가문 존립의 위기에 처한 처가를 돕는 남성인물과 동기간의 우애를 지키고자하며 친정부모를 그리워하는 여성인물의 모습을 확인할 수 있었다. <현몽쌍룡기>의 서술자는 이들 부부의 모습을 통해 여성들이 혼인 후에도 본가(本家)인 친정과 심정적으로나 현실적으로 가깝게 지내고자하나 남편이나 시가(媤家)의 제지 아래 어려웠던 현실을 보여주고 있다. 특히 정채임을 통해서는 친정 일에 적극적으로 개입하는 모습을, 양옥설을 통해서는 심정적으로 그리워하는 모습으로 보여 주었다. 또한 가문과 가문 간의 결속인 혼인을 통해 남성들이 처가를 정치적 부침을 함께 할 수밖에 없는 상대로 인식했던 점을 조무ㆍ조성을 통해서 보여 주었다. <현몽쌍룡기>의 서술자는 여성들에게 친정은 자신의 근원지로서 언제까지나 감정적으로 가깝고자 했던 공간이지만 혼인과 동시에 멀어져야만 했던 공간이며, 남성들에게 처가는 감정적으로는 적절한 거리를 유지하되 정치적으로는 우호적인 관계를 맺어야만 했던 공간임을 보여주고 있다.

영문 초록

This thesis is focused on observing the leading characters in HyunMongSSangYongGi and determining how the concept of the wife's family changes and how close a woman should be with her birth family after marriage. Through Cho-mu and Cheong Chae-im, a married couple in HyunMongSSangYongGi, the story portrays a husband who has no respect for his father-in-law and torments his in-laws, and a wife who cannot part with her birth family both physically and mentally despite her husband's oppression. Another couple in the novel, the Cho-sung and Yang Ok-sul couple, show a husband who protects his in-laws who are being threatened due to the rebellious behavior of their son, and a woman who is loyal to her colleagues and deeply misses her mother and father. In the story, the narrator depicts the lives of women who wish to have a close physical and mental relationship with their family, but cannot do so because of the pressure from their husbands and their husbands' family. Cheong Chae-im represents women who are actively involved in their birth family issues, and Yang Ok-sul represents women who miss their family. In addition, through the two male characters, Cho-mu and Cho-sung, the story shows how husbands back then viewed marriage as not just the unification of two people but two families, and felt responsible for the political rise and fall of their in-laws. The storyteller indicates that, at the time, women had to mentally part from their birth family despite their attachment to their place of origin, whereas men basically kept a certain distance from their in-laws but at the same time established a friendly political relationship with them.
