농촌 여성 생애담의 문학담론적 특성

국문 초록

농촌 여성의 생애담들은 일부 주제적 언술의 반복, 묘사의 전형성, 그리고 구조적 유사의 국면들을 통해서 강한 담론적 지향을 드러낸다. 여성 생애담에서 일정한 주제적 언술이나 전형적 묘사가 반복되는 것은 생애담의 주체들이 삶의 경험과 인식을 공유한 이유 외에도, 그들 상호간에 오랜 의사소통의 문화가 있어 왔음을 반증하는 사실이기도 하다. 생애담의 서사단락들이 '고난-고난극복'의 구조를 반복하고 있는 것도 주목된다. 이는 영웅서사의 구조를 모방한 것으로 여성 생애담의 서사담론 전략이라 할 만하다. 여성들은 중첩되는 고난에도 불구하고 친정과 자식을 위해서 필사의 노력으로 인고의 삶을 살았고, 시집 살림을 일구기까지 한 존재로 자신을 의미화하고 있는 것이다. 나아가 생애담의 일부 주제나 묘사가 다른 구비문학 장르들과도 상호텍스트적 관계에 있음이 확인되었는데, 이는 여성 생애담이 민요, 설화, 판소리 등과 동일한 문학전통과 민중문화적 기반에서 이루어진 문학담본임을 말해 주는, 아주 중요한 특징이라 생각된다. 한편으로 이 여성들의 생애담에는 한탄, 원망, 체념, 수용, 자긍, 희화의 목소리들이 나타나고 있고, 때로는 그것들이 한 개인의 이야기에서 착종되어 나타나기도 한다. 이 불안한 다성들은 여성들이 더 이상 세계를 남성 가부장의 시선으로 바라보지도, 더 이상 그들이 마련해 준 언어로 말하고 있지 않다는 의미에서 이미 가부장제 사회의 모순과 억압을 증거하는 담론적 실천이라 할 수 있다. 이렇듯 다성으로 말하기는 여성 생애담의 저항담론적 가능성을 예고한다. 미셸 푸코가 문학담론이 가장 전복적 저항담론일 수 있음을 설파하였듯이, 여성 생애담의 문학담론적 국면은 추후 여성의 미래를 위한 가능적 힘으로 작용할 수 있으리라 기대된다.

영문 초록

The life stories of women in rural community have some characteristics, that is to say some thematic statements, typical descriptions, and structural resemblances. I think the reason why they had mutual communicative culture in their rural life and have formed the speaking patterns and sympathies of their own way in the process of repeated communications. So this indeed can be called just 'feminine discourses'. Specially, it is worthy of note that the women's oral autobiographies have the structure of 'difficulty and overcoming it'. I think it's a sort of the strategy of narrative discourse. It seems to me that has modelled on the tradition of hero myths or heroic narratives. I supposed that they would like to tell about themselves as heroes, who endured repeated difficulties and survived for their childrens, moreover made prosperous their husband's home. Further, I found that some themes and descriptions of the women's stories are on the relation of intertextuality with some oral literatures. I think, it is very significant aspects. Because it means that the women's life stories are no less literary discourses than other oral literatures, which have formed with folk culture for a basis, like folktales, folksongs, and Pan-sori etc. Besides, there are various and mixed voices, like lamentation, resentment, resignation, receiveing, pride, and caricature, in their stories. This polyphonic aspects deserve attention, though it is often uneasy and shaken, as possiblity of opposed discourses to patriarchism. It means that women already no more see their world depending on patriarchism, no more speak to it on patriarchal voices. As Michel Foucault once grasped overthrowing power of literary discourses, stating the reason for the self-regulating aspects of literary languages, I expect these utterances and storings of women's life stories would be great power for women's future.
