국문 초록

은 '여성'이라는 젠더정체성 형성의 가장 기저에 놓여 있는 사건으로, 월경의 입사적 의미는 '생산 능력을 지닌 여성 주체로의 거듭남'과 '남성의 성적(性的) 욕망을 충족시켜주는 요소를 완비한 여성으로의 완성'에 있다. 여성 섹슈얼리티의 핵심을 구성하는 이 '생산 능력'과 '성적 매력'은 흔히 양가적(兩價的) 이미지로 재현된다. 이 글에서 주목한, '여성이 깔고 앉은 빗자루에 월경혈이 묻어 그 빗자루가 도깨비로 화했다'는 내용의 이야기는 여성 섹슈얼리티의 양가적 이미지와 함께 이것이 여성 섹슈얼리티에 관한 규범 담론으로 기능하는 과정을 보여준다. 해당 이야기의 서사 층위에서 '월경혈'은 도깨비와 함께 여성 섹슈얼리티에 내재한 신성성을 표상한다. 그러나 연행 층위에서 이것은 여성의 섹슈얼리티를 부정하거나 통제하는 행위 규범을 지시하고 정당화하는 기제로 활용된다. '몸엣것'으로서 월경은 여성의 몸 밖으로 배출된 것이지만 여성의 몸 그 자체다. 여성 섹슈얼리티의 핵심 관건으로서, 수치와 기피, 혐오와 배제의 대상이지만 생산 주체로서 여성 능력과 소명의 핵심부를 구성하는 사건이기에 절대로 버려져서도 안 되고 버릴 수도 없는 대상인 것이다. 버려진 상태로 여성의 몸 깊숙이, 여성 섹슈얼리티의 핵심부에 들어와 있다는 점에서 월경은 비체화된(abjected) 대상이다. 비체화된 대상이 몸 안에 들어와 있고 애도할 길 없는 상실의 대상이 자아로 합체되어 있듯이, 여성 섹슈얼리티는 거부된 채로 여성 젠더정체성의 핵심 자리에 끼어들어가 있다. 이 우울이 '월경'에 대한 신경증을 유발하는 것이다. 수치와 죄의식 속에 여성 섹슈얼리티를 경험하면서 자기 억압적이고 자기 훈육적인 폐쇄 회로에 갇혀 버린 여성 주체에게 비체화된 몸은 자기 상실과 우울을 심화하는 공간인 동시에 기제다. 비체화된 대상으로서 월경은 여성 주체의 우울을 보여주는 표상인 동시에 이와 같은 방식으로만 주체화될 수 있는 여성 주체의 탄생 과정을 상징한다. 여성은 이처럼 자신의 섹슈얼리티를 부정하고 비난하며 이를 수치의 대상으로 여기며 영원히 알 수 없는 모호한 미지 영역으로 남겨두라는 젠더 권력의 명령에 복종하며 이것이 지시하는 젠더 규범에 순응하는 한에서 사회적 주체로 호명 받을 수 있는 것이다. 구전서사의 연행과 전승이 여성의 몸과 섹슈얼리티에 대한 규율 담론을 생산, 강화하거나 확대ㆍ재생산하기만 하는 것은 아니다. 다른 부류의 구전서사 연행에서 여성 연행자들은 자신의 섹슈얼리티를 긍정하거나 적극적으로 향유하는 태도를 드러내기도 한다. 여성 섹슈얼리티에 대한 통제나 억압의 기획이 좌절되거나 엉뚱한 방향으로 수행되기도 하는 것이다. 서사와 연행 층위 사이의 길항과 이와 같은 규범 담론의 어긋난 수행은 구전서사를 매개로 한 젠더화 전략의 균열을 보여준다는 점에서 탈주적 가능성을 예고한다.

영문 초록

This study is intended to analyze performance of the oral-narrative dealing with a feminine sexuality and a feminine body. As a result of the analysis, we can ascertain facts that the performance effects producing the gendered subject by regulating the gendered body and sexuality and the discipline discourse of the negation and the disgust of female sexuality. The story is that the stick has turned into a korean traditional specter, Dokkaebi, after a woman having her period sat on a broom stick in front of the furnace. In some stories the specter changes into a beautiful young female and she lures a male using her sexual charm. Most of the stories is performed by a female subject or a feminine community. Feminine performers considers the event of transformation into a specter as an unlucky and ominous result and they think female's carelessness, that she was sitting on a broom stick during her menstrual cycle, brings about the result. The performance of these oral-narratives produces the effect of the negation and thsexuality.e disgust of female sexuality. It presents female subject's neurosis and melancholy, for it means that she denies her own sexuality herself. So some oral narratives of menstruation acts on a female subject gendered as discipline discourse of sexuality. While the scenario of identity based on the gender-identity constitutes the narrative structure of orally transmitted stories, the performance of those stories acts out a scene in which the old self dies away to be reborn into a new one who is recognized by the community, which hence resembles an initiation. The subject of the performance goes through a process of assimilation and adaptation in which s/he obeys and internalizes the norms and value systems of the gender community voluntarily. If the performance of orally transmitted stories is a process of accomplishing the sense of identity, and the repeated practice of such accomplishment is a formation process of a member of the community. From this point, it can be noted that the effect and action of the story performance inspires the subject of the performance to involve him/herself voluntarily in the boundary of the community, and this can be claimed as the power of story. In this study, the oral narratives categorized as discipline discourse of feminine sexuality have concerned the gender norms and power regulating a feminine sexuality and a feminine body. Female subject who perform the oral-narratives is participating on her own initiative in the gendered strategy to be given body by effect of the discourse and is flighting from it at the same time.
