영문 초록

This study deals with SIMCHONG-GA which has been fixedly placed as one of masterpieces in Korean literature. Especially this thesis consists of the famine imagery formation of SIMCHONG-GA through the process of 19th century thematic transfiguration. There are three period in SIMCHONG-GA tradition. First is formative stage, from 17th century co 18th century, that SIMCHONG-GA involved to the PANSORI(판소리) repertoires. Second is the growing stage, from the late 18th century co the middle of 19th century, that PANSORI is wide spread to upper and lower class. Third is the stage of transfiguration, from the middle of the 19th century. In this thesis I remark the second stage, because in this period the expansion and change of the persons were caused. I select the singing version(Heohungsik-bon, 허흥식본), Wanpan-bon(완판본), Sinjaihyo-bon(신재효본) and analyse those texts. SIMCHONG-GA, the work formed based from PANSORI concrete personal-formation. In SIMCHONG-GA, the original protagonist is Simchong(심청), all focus is concentrated to her. And the antagonist lively concrete persons are Simbongsa(심봉사), Kwaksi-buin (곽씨부인), Paingduk-omi(뺑덕어미). In this thesis I analyse these three persons' character. Simbongsa, in first stage he is lower class, and in second stage he transfigured as a Yangban. Shin Jaihyo changed him as a noble man. Kwaksi-buin has two-faced image, one is concretely formed working image. Another is a model of a sacred and idealized woman, who is the prototype which traditional society demand. Paingduk-omihas profane image. She is a person who ate faithful to desire, especially intended to sex. Her character contains humor. The poses and acting images acted by Paingduk-omi were related to the new ages trend. In conclusion, through the 19th century PANSORI text were in changing.
