노인의 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 변인 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 대구에 거주하는 만 65세 이상의 남녀 노인 171명을 대상으로, 배우자 유ㆍ무에 따른 노인의 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 변인을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 배우자가 있는 노인의 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 주는 개인적 변인은 자아존중감과 내외통제성으로 나타났고, 현재 배우자가 없는 노인의 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 주는 개인적 변인은 자아존중감으로 나타났다. 둘째, 배우자가 있는 노인의 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 주는 관계적 변인은 부부관계와 성인 자녀와의 관계로 나타났고, 현재 배우자가 없는 노인의 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 주는 관계적 변인은 사회적 지지로 나타났다. 셋째, 노인의 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 주는 변인들의 상대적 영향력을 알아본 결과, 배우자가 있는 노인의 경우에는 부부관계와 자아존중감 순으로 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 현재 배우자가 없는 노인의 경우는 자아존중감이 주관적 안녕감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the antecedents of the elderly's subjective well-being. The subjects of this study are 171 elderly over the age of 65 years in the area of Daegu. The data are analysed by factor analysis, Cronbach's α, frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and multiple regression analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows: 1. Individual variables that affect subjective well-being of the elderly with spouse are self-esteem and locus of control. Individual variable that affect subjective well-being of the elderly without spouse is the self-esteem. 2. Relational variables that affect subjective well-being of the elderly with spouse are marital satisfaction and old parent-adult children relation. Relational variable that affect subjective well-being of the elderly without spouse is the social support. 3. In case of the elderly with spouse, marital relation is the most influential variable on subjective well-being and the next influential variable, self-esteem. In case of the elderly without spouse, self-esteem is the most influential variable on well-being. With above-mentioned conclusions, following suggestions are presented for succeeding studies. First, it is not in reason to generalize this research findings, because the research sample is over 65 years old persons who reside in Daegu. Therefore following studies should include various levels of old persons including low-income old persons, senior citizens who reside in other areas except Daegu or live in institutions. Second, this research studies variables which affect subjective well-being on the basis of spouse existence. However succeeding researches should include variables which have an effect on subjective well-being, after segmenting old persons with their characteristics including condition of health or economic conditions, besides the basis of spouse existence. Third, this study investigates variables, which affect subjective well-being, by use of self-esteem, locus of control, attachment, marital relation, old parent-adult children relation, friends relation and social support. However, succeeding studies should add variables including grand parent-grand children relation and sibling relation and there is need to investigate whether the variables affect subjective well-being.
