삶의 특성이 노인우울에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 노년기의 심리사회적 특성으로 최근 관심이 증가되고 있는 우울과 관련하여 삶의 객관적 특성이 삶의 만족도를 매개로 하여 우울에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구이다. 노인의 삶의 만족도나 혹은 우울에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대한 선행연구들은 조사대상이 일부 지역으로 한정되고 삶의 만족도와 우울의 관계에 대한 명확한 이론적 검토 없이 양자의 인과관계를 논의하는 한계가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 전국적인 표본을 대상으로 하는 노동연구원의 고령화패널 2차년도 자료를 구조방정식 모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 건강상태, 사회활동, 자녀지지, 경제상태와 같은 삶의 객관적 특성은 삶의 만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며 자녀지지, 경제상태는 우울에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 건강상태, 사회활동은 우울에 직접적인 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 삶의 만족도를 매개로 하여 영향을 미치는 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석결과는 최근 사회적 문제가 되고 있는 노인우울이 주관적 인지ㆍ평가과정인 삶의 만족도를 매개로 하여 영향을 받고 있음을 보여주며, 향후 노인들을 위한 심리정서적 프로그램이 다양하게 준비되어야 함을 의미한다.

영문 초록

There has been a recent increase of interest on depression as a psyco-social characteristics of the elderly. The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of life objective factors on depression of the elderly mediated by life-satisfaction. Previous literature has two limitations. First, previous survey is covered restricted area. Secondly, there is no distinctive analysis of correlation between depression and life-satisfaction. Given these limitations in the previous literature, this study used the Korea Longitudinal Study of Aging Data(KLoSA) 2008 that was collected all over country by Korea Labor Institute and used Structural Equation Modeling for statistical analysis method. Results were obtained in this study as the following. Health, social activity, child support, economic status all have significant effects on life-satisfaction. But only health and social activity have significant effects on depression. And the mediating effect of health and social activity on depression is statistically significant. These findings indicate that subjective perception and evaluation on objective attributes of life are closely related to mental coping and adaptation among the elderly and to address elderly depression on drawing attention as social problem, psycho-emotional programs are prepared for elderly welfare programs.
