『주역』「계사전」의 유물론적 성격과 교육적 시사점

국문 초록

본고는 『주역』「계사전」에 나타난 유물론의 특성을 고찰하고 교육에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 시사점을 찾으려는 시도이다. 「계사전」은 서양철학에서 제시하는 유물론과 동일하지는 않지만, 역사적 유물론과 변증법적 유물론의 성격과 유사한 측면을 상당 부분 지니고 있다. 특히, 「계사전」하 2장에서는 인류 문명의 발전사를 제시하며 역사적 유물론의 특성을 구체적으로 보여주는데, 이런 유물론의 특성은 교육과 밀접한 연관성을 지닌다. 교육은 근본적으로 경제적이고 사회적이며, 생산력 발전에 조응하는 동시에 생산력 발전을 촉진한다. 이는 마르크스주의에서 강조하는 상부구조와 연관해 볼 때, 고대 동양의 교육이 지닌 위상과 구조를 발견할 수 있는 실마리 역할을 한다. 동시에 현대교육에 중대한 시사점을 줄 수 있다. 「계사전」에 나타난 생산력 발전을 촉진하는 교육의 특성을 고려한다면, 교육은 인간의 행위를 통해 생산력 발전에 조응할 수 있고, 교육이 생산력 발전의 촉매가 되도록 인간의 행위를 변화시킬 수도 있다. 「계사전」의 유물론적 가능성을 교육적으로 실현한다면, 우리는 주체적 행위를 통해 미래를 개척해 나가는 동시에 현대교육의 지평을 보다 확장할 수 있다고 판단한다.

영문 초록

This study tried to consider the materialistic character and find out contemporary educational insight in I-Ching(『周易』) 'Xi-Ci-Zhuan(Copula Commentary, 「繫辭傳」)'. Overall, 'Xi-Ci-Zhuan' has dialectical-materialistic character. Especially, in the chapter 2 of the last volume of 'Xi-Ci-Zhuan', we can find historical-materialistic character through the history of civilization of humankind. The educational meaning of historical-materialistic character which was found in 'Xi-Ci-Zhuan' is related to the fundamental attribute of education. According to this study, education is fundamentally economical and social. Moreover, it is corresponded to productive forces and simultaneously accelerate the development of productive forces. These results, with the theory of Marx on 'basement-superstructure', offer significant insight to today's education. Thus, the root cause of 'the crisis in education' is that the education is not corresponded its basement, especially the productive forces. When we consider the attribute of education which can accelerate the development of productive forces, we can make the correspondence between education and productive forces. Moreover, there is a possibility that we make education be a catalyst for development of the productive forces. As a active existence which pioneer the future, we should try to realize these 'possibilities' of education.
