국문 초록

철학적 방법론이자 인식론인 해석학은 교육사상 연구방법에서 가장 기본적이며 고전적인 방법에 속한다. 먼저 논문에서는 우리의 교육사상 연구관행에서 해석학적 방법론이 얼마나 준수되었고 충분히 논의되어 왔는가 하는 문제와 관련하여 그 원인을 규명한다. 그리고 방법론적으로 해석학이 특정한 규칙이나 지침을 갖고 있지는 않지만 일반적인 합의의 수준에서 기본적인 개념을 이해, 이해의 구속성, 해석학적 순환 등으로 규정하여 그 특징을 설명한 후, 슐라이어마허, 딜타이, 가다머의 해석학을 도식화한 모형을 통하여 그 차이점을 개관한다. 그런 다음 이데올로기적 비판에 노출되어 있는 해석학의 한계를 연구 방법론적 차원에서 논의한다. 마지막으로 교육사상 연구가 곧 역사적 연구라는 관점에서, 의미의 이해(이념사 혹은 관념사)와 사실의 규명(사회사)을 통합해주는 최근의 연구 흐름인 개념사를 시론적인 차원에서 소개한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to overview the methodological characteristics of hermeneutics and several problems associated with research assumptions. Hermeneutics as a philosophical methode and epistemology belongs to a basic and classic methodology for the research of educational thought. But it is very disappointed that such a methodology has not been abided by nor discussed in the research practice of educational thought. From this viewpoints, the article examines firstly causes of its insufficiency. And then the fundamental concepts such as understanding, binding of understanding and hermeneutic circle are explained, though hermeneutics has methodologically neither specific rules nor guidelines. In order to take general view of characteristics and differences among the hermeneutic classic masters such as Schleiermacher, Dilthey and Gadamer, the schematized models of hermeneutics are used for didactic explanation. Finally the paper introduces the 'history of concepts(Geschichte der Begriffe)' as a latest methodology which could integrate both the dimension of understanding of meanings(history of ideas) and that of investigation of facts(social history), from the point of view that research for educational thought is nothing less than the historical research.
