중소부품소재기업의 기술혁신 장애요인에 관한 탐색적 연구

국문 초록

이 글은 각각 독립적으로 보이는 기술혁신의 장애요인들이 실제로는 연관되어 있다는 점에서 착안해서 장애요인 사이의 관계를 적극적으로 고려하여, 기술혁신의 장애요인 사이의 관계를 분석하였다. 구체적으로 과학기술정책연구원의 기술혁신조사(Korean Innovation Survey) 결과를 활용하여 중소부품소재기업의 특성을 찾아내고자 하였다. 특히 이 글은 기업규모가 기술혁신의 장애요인의 중요성에 미치는 효과를 분석하고 중소부품소재기업의 기술혁신의 장애요인 사이의 관계를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 국내 중소부품기업의 경우에 규모의 확대는 장애요인 중에서 자금이란 장애요인의 문제를 완화하지만 동시에 다른 장애요인의 중요성을 확대하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기업차원과 정책차원 모두에서 기업의 대형화 등과 같은 가시적인 방안을 통해 단편적으로 장애요인에 대응하는 것보다는 이들 장애요인에 대한 시스템적인 대응방안을 마련하는 것이 중소부품소재기업의 기술혁신을 제고하고 나아가 기업경쟁력을 제고할 수 있다는 점을 시사한다. 영문 초록

This paper tries to analyze the relationship among barriers to technological innovation, in terms of the complementarities among them, considering that even though they seem to be independent from each other, they are actually intertwined with each other. In specific, this paper tries to identify the characteristics of small and medium component and material firms, in terms of the determinants of barriers and their relationship with each other, utilizing the result of Korean Innovation Survey done by STEPI. This paper's major findings are as follows. The enhancement of firm size does alleviate the problems of funding, but it also make worse the other barriers at the same time. This findings may hint at a systematic address to barriers to technological innovation, rather than partial and independent intervention toward each barrier to technological innovation, for enhancing technological innovation of small and medium component and material firms in Korea.
