국문 초록

이 논문은 예수회 소속의 전교사였던 바뇨니(P. Alphonsus. Vagnoni)가 펴낸 한역서학서인 제가서학(齊家西學)에 나타난 부부윤리를 중심으로 그 배경과 구조, 부부윤리의 구체적인 내용을 단순한 적응주의 입장을 떠나 수용과 비판이라는 두 가지 관점에서 살펴보고 그것이 동아시아 사회에 시사하는 바를 추론하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이 연구에서는 대만의 보인대학본과 프랑스 국립도서관의 영인본 자료를 연구의 대상으로 삼았다. 이 연구를 통해 확인된 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제가서학의 저술배경은 적응주의 선교전략, 서구윤리학의 소개, 동서문화 교류의 측면에서 찾아 볼 수 있고 그 구조는 부부의 혼인에서부터 해로에 이르는 9개장으로 구성되어 있다. 둘째, 이 한역서학서에서 서구의 결혼문화에 대한 소개는 당시 동아시아의 전통적인 결혼관에 새로운 인식의 지평을 열어주는 계기가 되었다. 셋째, 결혼문화에 대한 관점의 차이를 확인할 수 있다. 특히 동아시아의 조혼제, 일부다처제, 점성술에 의존하는 혼인문화 등에 대해서는 비판적인 관점을 보이고 있는 반면 동서 간에 정치, 사회적 문화차이, 성속의 차이에도 불구하고 재혼금기에는 일치된 입장을 보였다. 여기에는 남성중심의 가부장적 권위를 유지하기 위한 기제로 활용된 점도 유추가 가능하다. 넷째, 부부의 역할 규범과 관련하여 대체로 서구의 부부역할 규범이 당시 동아시아의 그것에 비해 균형적인 관점에서 접근된 것으로 이해된다. 동아시아에서 여성의 가정 내 역할에 대해서는 수많은 지침서가 존재한 반면 남성의 가정 내 부부의 역할 규범에 대해서는 상대적으로 많지 않기 때문이다. 끝으로 이 자료가 갖는 교육사적 의의는 동서 문화 교류의 측면에서 수행한 가교역할을 들 수 있다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of this paper is to explore the ethics on husband and wife based on western society and also it's background, structures which appeared in the Qi Jia Xi Xue(Home management of western society)written by P. A. Vagnoni. However I'd like to take it's focuses on critical view point not simply on accommodation of western cultures to the China. Finally I'd like to induce that how those materials implicated on the East Asian society. In this paper, photoprinted materials edited by Fu Ren university of Taiwan and the other photoprinted kept in national library of France were used as a primary sources, because of those materials of index only found in National library of Korea in 1782. The results of this study suggested as follows. First, Those materials let the East Asian people at that time have a wider understanding level on the marriage cultures. The purpose of marriage at that time was to get a next generation, ancestor rite in indigenous East Asian society. On the other hand in western societies, marriage could be seen as a important starting point for the children education. those were relatively fresh image to the East Asian peoples. Though there was a inequality between male and female at least, that was to say, it suggest simply marriage condition applied to woman, however it would be accepted as important role of women in the home. Second, there was a different ideas on marriage cultures between western and eastern societies. Especially, issues would be early marriage, polygamy, marriage cultures demand upon astrology etc for them, western missionary. On the other hand those caused religious suffering at that time. also those looked as a collision between confucius and Christian ethics. Third, in role play of husband and wife, western style could be understood more balanced approach than that of East Asian approach at that time. Finally, educational implication of those materials would be a first introduction of Western ethics on husband and wife to Asian countries, though it was based on christian cultures. and also bridge role between East Asian societies and Western societies at that times.
