영문 초록

Kitsch, a German word which was first used in the late 19th century, is the product of rapid industrialization and birth of popular culture. Now, it is perceived as a form of art. This study has attempted to figure out the expressive characteristics of kitsch makeup amongst TV stars through an understanding of kitsch and an analysis of expression cases in kitsch makeup. In addition, the expressive characteristics of kitsch makeup amongst TV stars since 2000 have been classified into external and internal characteristics for analysis. The following results were obtained. In external expressive characteristics, bright and highly saturated color was used with complementary contrast. In terms of materials, gilded spangle was used. In terms of shape, kitsch makeup in which a post-phenomenon attempt was found has been expressed by avoiding a regular style. Among the internal expressive characteristics of kitsch makeup, amusement expressed extravagant and childish sentiment while nostalgia revealed retro makeup, expressing retrospective kitsch characteristics. In terms of resistance, depressive and creepy aspects were created using low-saturated and less-bright colors. In terms of decadence, a low-saturated reddish color instead of a bright color was usually used to create erotic images. In terms of pictorial aspect, brand-new eye makeup in which loud colors and pictorial techniques were used was expressed. Kitsch makeup amongst TV stars has shown new aesthetic attempts, not the conventional concept of beauty. A correct understanding of kitsch makeup will be helpful in developing makeup design and broadening the aesthetic category. It would also be useful as data to create kitsch makeup.
