중도입국청소년을 위한 초급 한국어 교재 개발 방안 연구

국문 초록

최근 중도입국청소년에 대한 전반적인 문제점을 해결하고자 교육과학기술부에서는 많은 대안을 내놓고 학교 밖의 중도입국청소년들을 학교 제도권으로 편입하려는 움직임을 보이고 있다. 하지만 구체적이고 실질적인 대안을 강구하지 않은 채 중도입국청소년을 정규 과정으로 유도하기란 쉽지 않다. 현행 학교 체제와 교육과정 등은 중도입국청소년들의 학교생활 적응에 어려움을 주고 있다 이들이 안정적으로 적응하기 위해서는 먼저 이 들을 위한 한국어 교재의 특성화가 이루어져야 한다. 한국에서 태어난 다문화가정자녀의 한국어에 대한 연구는 한국어교육뿐만 아니라, 교재 개발과 교육과정 등에 있어서 매우 짧은 기간임에도 불구하고 비교적 다양하게 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 중도입국청소년에 대한 연구는 이제 초기 단계로 특히 중도입국청소년을 위한 한국어 분야는 거의 찾아보기 어려운 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 중도입국청소년을 위한 교육 문제가 새로이 대두되고 있는 현재의 상황에서 중도입국청소년의 요구와 특성에 부합하는 교재 개발의 방향을 모색하였다. 이를 위해 중도입국청소년을 대상으로 하는 대안학교의 한국어교육 현황을 살펴보고, 현재 사용하고 있는 교재 『고려대 한국어 1』, 『연세대 한국어 1』, 『이화여대 말이 트이는 한국어 1』 3종을 분석하였다. 또한 서울대학교 중앙다문화교육센터에서 발행한 『학교가 좋아요-초급』을 분석하고 난 후에 중도입국청소년을 위한 교재개발 방향을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Examining the most representative educational institutions that implemented Korean language courses to immigrant students and the texts that were used, we found out that the level of the texts were based on adult learners. The advantages of such texts are that they allow the leaners to choose what they want to use according to the individual's standard, but the focus is similar to that of current Korean language schoolbooks. However, the Korean language textbooks that are intended for foreign adult learners do not reflect the immigrant students' social and cultural characteristics, which is a fatal limitation for their learning. Therefore, the usage of foreign adult aimed textbooks is irrelevant in the context of contents, education strategies and subjects. Furthermore, the connection of these textbooks to other subjects seems to be very weak, leading to the conclusion that they are irrelevant for immigrant students to use them. Thus, the desirable textbooks for immigrant students should first, deal with topics that have close relation with their daily lives while including both, general purpose Korean language for their adaptation and academic purpose Korean language for their studying. Also, diverse themes should be included so that integrated education ca be achieved. Second, we should consider the immigrant students' Korean language and learning skills as well as their understanding of Korean society and culture in order to properly reflect the goal, teaching method and assessment of Korean language education. These sort of textbooks will not only increase their Korean language skills, but also enable the students to file a proper perception of Korean society and culture, which will help them to become a true member of the society. Third, for the sake of the comprehension of the learners, the textbooks should handle subjects related to various societies and cultures of different countries, thereby enabling the learner to perceive the difference between each individual culture, and enhancing their understanding of a multicultural society. Last, through criticism and accommodation, the contents should be constructed in a way in which immigrant students can compare their current situation with the inherent culture that they held before, which will make it possible for them to maintain their cultural identity while integrating to a new cultural environment.
