노인의 자아존중감, 생활만족도, 사회참여욕구가 사회참여활동에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구는 성공적인 노화를 위한 주요 영역 중 하나로 노인의 사회참여에 주목하고, 정부와 지역사회가 추진하는 노인의 사회참여 독려를 위한 정책과 실천안에 보다 실증적인 자료를 제공하고자 시도되었다. 이를 위해 선행연구 고찰을 토대로 사회인구학적 변인 외에 노인의 자아존중감, 생활만족도, 사회참여욕구가 사회참여활동에 미치는 상대적 영향력이 어느 정도인지 보건복지부의 2008년 전국노인실태조사 원자료를 활용하여 면밀히 분석하였다. 조사대상은 65세 이상 노인 11,991명으로, 기초통계분석, t검증, 일원변량분석과 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하여 결과를 분석·검증하였다. 연구결과 교육수준과 월평균 가구소득은 낮을수록 일자리활동참여가 많았으며, 두 변수의 수준이 높을수록 자원봉사활동참여가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 일자리활동참여는 동부거주자에 비해 읍면부거주자의 참여비율이 높아 은퇴와 관련성이 낮은 농어촌지역 노인이 생계형 활동으로 일하고 있음이 예측되었다. 자아존중감, 생활만족도, 사회참여욕구는 성별, 연령, 교육수준, 배우자유무, 거주지, 건강상태 등에 따라 유의미한 차이를 나타냈다. 일자리활동참여와 자원봉사활동참여에 영향을 미치는 변인은 자아존중감, 사회참여욕구였으며, 생활만족도는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이 연구의 주요 분석결과를 통해 노인복지 영역의 실천적 개입을 위해 농어촌지역의 일자리 환경 개선, 도시와 농촌에 따른 차별화된 사회참여 정책과 대안마련이 요구된다.

영문 초록

This study examines how self-esteem, life satisfaction, and desire for social participation of the elderly affect the social participation activity of older people. Using data from a national survey administered by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2008 for those aged 65 and older (n=11,991), we conducted statistical analyses using SPS3 12.0. The results of the study showed that lower education and monthly income levels were predictive of the higher job participation while higher education and monthly income levels were related to higher volunteer work participation rates. There were differences in job participation levels by rural (50.9%) and urban (18.0%) residence, respectively. Showing that the elderly in rural areas were less likely to retire. Also, the study showed that there were the meaningful relations between the population sociologic variables - self-esteem, life satisfaction, and desire for social participation and other variables -gender, age, education level, spouse status, area, and health condition. The results of the Legit Regression Analysis showed that the people who have the high degree in self-esteem and social participation activity are more likely to have the possibility in participating the job activity and volunteer work. life satisfaction did not have a meaningful effect. Our findings suggest that it is necessary to pay attention to the improvement of job's condition in rural area. The elderly welfare practical intervention and the policy should be distinctive, depending on the characteristic and condition in urban and rural area. It is necessary to expand the policy that increases the opportunities, respect and concern for assisting the elderly social participation activity.
