문화교육적 관점에서 실천한 중학교 시낭송 교육

국문 초록

이 글은 문화교육적 관점에서 실천한 중학교 시낭송 교육에 관한 연구이다. 문화교육이란 독자를 ‘수동적인 소비자’가 아니라 ‘생산자로서의 소비자[생비자(生費者), (prosumer)]’로 그 위상을 재정립하여 바라보자는 입장이며, 텍스트의 관점에서도 순수 서정시나 모더니즘 계열의 시보다는 민중이나 대중에게 쉽게 향유되는 시들도 교육과 연구의 대상으로 삼자는 입장이다. 또한 이러한 ‘시의 생산, 분배, 소비’의 측면을 중요한 ‘실천으로서의 문화, 문학’ 현상으로 인정하자는 입장을 말한다. 이와 같은 문화교육의 관점은 ‘민족지학의 관점’의 연구와 깊은 관련이 있다. 이 관점은 20세기 산업사회가 발달하면서 생긴 산물들인 드라마와 영화, 사진 등의 장르에 관심을 갖는 연구이다. 또한 계급적, 사회적 관점으로는 노동자나 여성, 이민자와 같은 영국 민중들이 향유하는 문화에 관심을 가지고, 이러한 문화 텍스트를 분석하고, 이를 소비하는 시청자나 독자들에게 관심을 가지는 연구 방식이다. 이들 모두를 ‘확장된 문화’라는 개념으로 수용해야 한다는 입장이다. 이 연구는 1장에서는 문화교육적 관점에서 시낭송 교육의 현실에 관해 문제 제기를 하였고, 2장에서는 문화교육적 관점에서 본 작가‧텍스트‧독자를 살펴보고, 3장에서는 문화교육적 관점을 잘 반영할 수 있는, ‘반응활동의 객관화를 위한 의사소통 모형’을 중심으로 시낭송 교육 방안 설계와 시낭송 교육의 실제를 보였고, 4장에서는 문화교육적 관점에서 실천한 시낭송 교육의 의의와 한계, 제언을 정리하였다. 이 연구의 의의를 정리해 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시 낭송자와 청중들은 시 텍스트를 활용한 낭송의 개념과 범주를 폭넓게 허용함을 알게 된다. 둘째, 다양한 시낭송 방식의 체험은 반응비평 중심의 시 감상 교육을 적절하게 수행하는 학습 과정임을 알게 된다. 셋째, 학생들은 시를 주체적으로 감상하고 즐기며, 적절하게 반응하고 소통할 있는 능력을 경험한다. 위와 같은 시낭송 교육은 부정적 영향과 한계에도 유의해야 한다. 감상의 과정에서 주객전도의 딜레마가 작용하여 학생들이 스스로 생각하고 즐길 수 있는 재미를 빼앗아 버릴 수 있고, 부정확한 선입견을 가지고 많은 보조 자료를 동원하여 배경 음향과 화면으로 채우는 것에 골몰할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This research deals with poem recitation education in middle school conducted from the cultural education standpoint. In cultural education, the status of reader is upgraded to be viewed as 'producer and consumer (prosumer)' instead of just a 'passive consumer'. Such perspective of cultural education has a lot to do with 'ethnographic perspective' research. This perspective stemmed from paying attention to genre such as dramas, movies, and photos ― products of the developed industrial society in the 20th century. The research analyzes such cultural texts and pays attention to the consumers, the viewers or readers, who are all accepted in the concept of 'extended culture'. This research raised issues associated with poem recitation education from the cultural education standpoint in the chapter 1. In Chapter 2, writers and texts are examined from the cultural education perspective. In Chapter 3, planning of poem recitation education and its reality was revealed based on the communication model for objectification of reaction activities, reflecting the perspectives of cultural education. In Chapter 4, the significance, limitations, and suggestions on poem recitation education from the cultural education standpoint were presented. The significance of this research is as follows. Firstly, the poem reciters and audience will be introduced to the concepts and categories of poetry recitation. Secondly, they will learn that reactive criticism is the foundation for poetry appreciation and so fuels a variety of poetry recitation experiences. Thusly, through the mentioned learning points, students will be able to independently communication abilities as well as an appreciation for poetry. Such poem recitation education had to be mindful of negative effects and limitations as well. In the process of appreciation, it might produce side effects of taking away the freedom and enjoyment of students, contrary to its goal. Second, the education might negatively focus on the background music and images with lots of supplementary materials and inaccurate approach.
