JigsawⅠ모형으로 분석한 협동학습의 효과에 관한 연구

국문 초록

사회 현상에 대한 올바른 이해와 사고력의 신장을 위해서는 다양한 교수⋅학습방법이 제공되어야 하지만, 아직도 대부분의 학교 현장에서는 교사가 많은 정보를 학습자에게 일방적으로 전달하는 강의식 수업이 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 수업방식은 학습자가 수동적인 위치에 머무르게하여 고차원적 사고력을 신장시키는 데 한계가 있으며, 자아존중감을 약화시키고 학습에 임하는 태도나 학습동기 유발에도 부정적인 영향을 미친다. 협동학습은 교사중심 강의식 수업의 한계를 극복하고 문제점을 개선하기 위한 대안으로 등장하였으며, 협동학습의 교육적 가치를 입증하기 위한 연구들 중 상당수는 협동학습이 인지적 영역뿐만 아니라 다양한 정의적⋅사회적 영역의 목표 달성에 있어서도 긍정적인 효과를 가진다는 결과를 제시하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 ‘JigsawⅠ모형을 적용한 협동학습전략이 학업성취도와 자아존중감의 향상 및 학습태도의 변화에 효과적인가’라는 가설을 토대로 협동학습의 효과성과 유용성을 검증함으로써 교수⋅학습 방법 개선에 대한 제언을 하고자 한다. 협동학습에 관한 선행연구를 바탕으로 중학교 1학년 지리수업에 적용할 모형을 개발하였고, 140명의 학생들을 대상으로 6차시에 걸쳐 실험하였다. 실험 전과 후, 모형의 분석을 위해 표집된 자료들은 MS Excel 2010, SPSS Statistics package 19.0 을 사용하여 정리⋅분석하였다. JigsawⅠ을 적용한 실험 결과, 전통적 강의식 수업에 비하여 협동학습은 학업성취도와 자아존중감을 향상시키는 데 보다 더 효과적이라는 가설이 두 집단 간 사후 학업성취도와 자아존중감에 관한 평균 점수의 차이에서 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 또한, 실험집단의 협동학습 실시 전과 후의 평균 점수에도 차이가 있었고, JigsawⅠ협동학습을 실시한 실험집단의 학생들이 강의식 수업을 실시한 통제집단의 학생들보다 더 긍정적인 태도로 학습에 임하였음이 분석되었다. 이로써 JigsawⅠ모형은 치열한 경쟁 속에서 교사 중심으로 진행되는 전통적 강의식 수업의 문제점을 개선하고 보완할 수 있는 효과적인 수업 모형임을 입증할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

A variety of teaching methodologies should be provided for students in order to get the accurate understanding of social phenomena and strengthen the thinking power of students, but still the traditional lecture type teachings which a teacher instills his idea and information into the students unilaterally prevail in many schools. The traditional lecture type teaching has a limit in strengthening a student's high-level thinking power because it keeps students staying in a passive state. The traditional lecture type teaching also weakens the self-esteem of a student and has a bad effect on the learning attitude or the learning motive induction. The cooperative learning emerged as an alternative to improve the limitation and the problem of the teacher-centered lecture type teaching. Many researches which had tried to establish the educational value of the cooperative learning have proved that the cooperative learning produce satisfactory results not only in the cognitive area but also in the object accomplishment of the emotional and social area. This study aims to verify the effectiveness and usefulness of the cooperative learning and suggest the solutions for the improvement of the teaching and learning methods by analyzing the effectiveness which has an effect on the learning achievement, self-esteem and the learning attitude with the research theme "Analysis for Cooperative Learning Effect with Jigsaw Model I". The model teaching plan which can be applied to the geography class in the first grade of a middle school was developed on the basis of the pre-study on the cooperative learning, and 6 experiments intended for 140 students were carried out. Before and after the experiment, MS Excel 2010 was used to file the collected data for analyzing and the collected data were analyzed by SPSS Statistics package 19.0. By this study the results as below were produced. The cooperative learning applied with Jigsaw Model I is much more effective than the traditional lecture type teaching in improving the learning achievement. The difference of the average point between two groups after the test was useful in the statistics and there was a distinctive difference in the tests which was held before and after the cooperative learning in the same experiment groups. And also the students who was taught by the cooperative learning applied with Jigsaw Model I showed more positive learning attitude in the class. In conclusion, the cooperative learning applied with Jigsaw Model proved effective as a method that can improve and complement the problems of the traditional teacher-centered lecture type teaching held in the keen competition.
