문화역사적 활동이론의 이론적 발전과 평생교육연구에 주는 시사점

국문 초록

최근 평생교육에 대한 사회적 요구와 기대가 확산됨에 따라 평생교육분야에서는 다양한 실천적, 정책적 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이와 같이 평생교육과 관련된 실증연구가 활성화됨에 따라 이에 대한 이론적 토대를 구축하는 작업 역시 그 중요성이 커지고 있으며, 그 중 학습에 대한 이론적, 체계적 접근 역시 필요한 시점이라고 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 문화역사적 활동이론 형성에 영향을 준 철학적 뿌리와 영향이 무엇인지를 탐색하고, 활동이론에서 제시하고 있는 주요 개념들과 이론적 쟁점은 무엇인가에 대한 분석을 통해 평생교육 연구에 주는 시사점이 무엇인지를 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 문화역사적 활동이론은 기호학, 상징적 상호작용, 마르크스주의에 철학적 뿌리를 두고 있으며, 비고츠키, 레온테프, 엥게스트롬에 의해 인간활동의 집단적 성격과 학습을 연결시키면서 다양한 개념과 쟁점을 토대로 발전해오고 있다. 문화역사적 활동이론은 기존의 평생교육의 주요 학습이론들과는 달리 학습이 가지고 있는 집단적, 변혁적, 역동적 속성을 강조하고 있다. 이와 같은 학습에 대한 또 다른 접근방법은 평생교육학에 새로운 시사점을 줄 수 있으며 현장에 대한 접근방법을 확대시킬 수 있다는 점에서 의의를 가지고 있다.

영문 초록

As the importance and necessity of lifelong education comes to increase sharply in the society, focus of recent research in lifelong education mainly tend to be on practical and political issues. Though these research trends are important to promote lifelong education, theoretical discussions to support and systematize practical research are also requested. The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze philosophical roots of Cultural Historical Activity Theory(CHAT), and critical logic and concepts of CHAT. Through these analysis, this study also suggests implications of CHAT to the academic field of lifelong education. Three philosophical roots such as semiotics, symbolic interactionism, and Marxim strongly provide philosophical base to CHAT and Vygotsky, Leont‘ev, and Engestrom contribute to build up theoretical frameworks of CHAT. Different from other adult learning theories, CHAT focuses on dynamic and collective characteristics of human activities and emphasize the revolutionary and collective nature of learning. As a result, CHAT could contribute to expand the boundary of research on lifelong education and to approach the nature of learning with different perspectives.
