평생교육관련 학술지 게재논문에서 구조방정식모형의 적용 단계와 문제점 탐구

국문 초록

최근 들어 양적 연구방법 중 구조방정식모형(Structural Equation Modeling: SEM)에 대한 관심이 크게 증가하고 있다. 평생교육 분야에서도 SEM을 적용한 논문들이 다수 발표되고 있으며, 향후 계속 증가될 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 아직까지 평생교육 분야에서 SEM을 적용하는 것은 초기 단계라고 할 수 있고 간혹 잘못된 적용이나 문제점이 발견되기도 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 평생교육 연구에 SEM을 적용한 논문을 수집·분석하여 SEM을 적용하는데 활용될 수 있는 쟁점과 현재의 적용수준을 파악하고 SEM의 적절한 적용을 위한 시사점을 제시하는데 연구목적을 두었다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 평생교육 분야의 8개 학술지를 선정하고, 2002년부터 2012년 5월까지 발표된 논문 중 SEM을 적용한 논문을 추출하고, 이론적으로 설정된 SEM 적용의 단계와 쟁점을 기준으로 분석을 시도하였다. 총 85개 논문이 분석에 활용되었다. 분석결과에 따르면, 첫째, 2008년부터 SEM 적용 논문이 크게 증가하고 있으며, 조사대상 기간 발표된 논문 중 5.8%를 차지하였다. 그러나 2008년부터는 약 10% 정도로 비율이 높았다. 둘째, 세 적용단계별로 총 34개 쟁점을 분석한 결과, 절반 정도의 쟁점들이 평생교육 연구에 SEM을 적용하는데 충분하게 반영되지 못하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 분석결과를 토대로 관련 논의와 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Many researchers are interested in Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) and try to apply this method to their studies. And researchers in the area of livelong education are also. But it is at the early stage to apply SEM to study about lifelong education. And some problems and limits has been found in articles about lifelong education. Therefore, based on this idea, researcher investigated the trends and limits based on the analyses of papers which apply SEM in studying lifelong education and suggested some implications. For this purpose, 85 papers were collected from 8 Korean journals related with lifelong education from 2002 to 2012 and analyzed according to 34 items. The 34 items were chosen based on theoretical reviews on SEM and meta studies about application of SEM. The findings were as in the followings: First, it was 85 papers(5.8%) which applied SEM in studying about lifelong education. And from 2008 the publication of these papers was increased rapidly. Second, according to analyze 85 papers at framework consisted with 34 items in applying SEM, half of the items were not fully considered. Especially, they were data screening, longitudinal data analysis, non-recursive modeling, input-matrix, reporting parameter estimate, model fit indices, model modification and comparison, cross-validation and so on. On the bases of these findings, suggestions were discussed.
