국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 러시아 내전기에 페트로그라드의 여러 산업체 안에서 사무직 노동자가 생산직 노동자와 맺은 관계의 특성과 추이를 분석하는 것이다. 러시아에서 공업이 발전하면서 산업체에서 육체 노동이 아닌 사무 노동에 종사하는 피고용자의 비중이 커졌으며, 이런 경향은 러시아 내전기에 더 심해졌다. 러시아혁명 이전 시기와 혁명 시기에 사무직 노동자와 생산직 노동자 사이에는 다소간에 갈등이 있었고, 내전 시기에도 상호 관계는 크게 나아지지 않았다. 다만 내전시기에는 육체 노동자가 우대받는 경향이 있었고, 이에 따라 육체 노동을 하지 않는 사무직 노동자는 상대적으로 불리한 위치에 있었다. 이런 상황 속에서 사무직 노동자는 프롤레타리아로 간주되기를 원했지만, 많은 경우에 생산직 노동자들은 사무직원을 진정한 노동자로 보지 않았다. 그러나 내전 말기에 육체 노동자 사이에서 사무 노동자를 동등한 노동자로 보는 경향이 점점 커졌다. 새로 특권을 누리는 집단에 대한 육체 노동자들의 반감이 사무 노동자에 대한 우호적 관계로 이어진 것이다. 그러나 그 우호적 관계는 전술적 성격을 띠었으므로 그 기반은 그리 굳건하지 않았다고 보아야 한다.

영문 초록

This article aims to analyze the relations of office workers to manual workers in industrial enterprises in Petrograd during the Russian Civil War, 1918-1921. The more the society was industrialized in the modern times, the more office workers were necessary to industries. Such a trend was accelerated especially in virtually all the industrial branches at Petrograd in the era of the Civil War. In addition the dislocation of economy in the Revolutionary Russia led to the acceleration of the process. Before the Russian Revolution and during the revolutionary process of 1917 the relationship between manual workers and office workers was far from being friendly one. Amongst the former was strong the prejudices against the latter. During the Civil War manual workers did not regard office workers as the true members of proletariat. Under the circumstances where those workers engaged in manual labor enjoyed some privileges in terms of wages and rations office workers sought to claim their rights to be accepted as proletariat, but in vain. Towards the end of the Civil War manual workers began to see office workers as their colleagues and promote amicable relations with them. The growing animosity toward the newly privileged groups such as the higher members of Communist Party and the dignitaries in the new society led manual workers to enter into an alliance with office workers. Such alliance was precarious, however. For the alliance can be characterized as a tactical one.
