재난자본주의와 감정의 정치학

국문 초록

세계보건기구는 2020년에 이르면 우울증이 신체적으로나 심리적으로나 전 세계에서 가장 큰 건강 저해 요인이 될 것으로 전망하고 있다. 이전에는 예외적이던 우울증이 일반적인 현상으로 부상하는 이유는 사회경제적 위기가 갈수록 심화되고 있다는 사실과 연관이 있다. 심리적 위기의 증상인 우울증과 경제 위기의 증상인 불황의 기표가 동일한 명칭으로 지칭된다는 것도 이를 간접적으로 예증한다. 이 글은 불황과 우울증의 기표적 일치가 경제위기와 사회심리, 개인 심리 간의 긴밀한 상호작용을 함축하고 있다는 가설에서 출발하여, 대공황의 문턱으로 진입해가면서 요동치고 있는 현대 자본주의 세계체계의 위기 속에서 대안사회로의 이행을 위해 필요한 새로운 주체형성의 경로를 이론적으로 탐색해 보려는 일종의 사고 실험이다. 21세기 자본주의 세계체계는 전지구적 차원으로 작동하고 있어서 과거와 같은 방식(일국사회주의)의 국지적 탈주가 어려운 상황이다. 이런 상태에서 발생하는 세계적 공황은 무력감을 강화할 수 있기 때문에 정치경제적 심리적 불황의 교착상태가 장기화될 우려도 크다. 그리고 이런 교착상태는 1세기 전과 같이 파시즘과 전쟁으로 이어질 수도 있다. 이런 위험들을 극복해가기 위해서는 (1) 구조적 폭력에 맞선 대항폭력 ＋ (2) 신경증과 우울증을 넘어서 공동체적인 감정적 유대를 형성할 수 있는 미와 숭고의 변증법의 체화 ＋ (3) 규제적 이념으로서의 코뮌주의라는 세 가지의 축 간의 선순환 고리를 형성해 나가야 한다. 이 삼자의 결합을 통해 각각의 내용을 튼실히 하려는 적극적인 실천만이 21세기의 ‘재난자본주의’가 확산시키고 있는 정치경제적 불황과 만성적 우울증의 교착 상태를 넘어 대안사회로 나아갈 수 있는 현실적 경로를 열어줄 수 있다.

영문 초록

WHO reports that mental depression would be the biggest impediment to health care in both psychological and somatic aspects in 2020s. It is related to socio-economic crises increased as times go on that psychological depression exceptional in the past is rising to general phenomenon in these days. It is also indirectly exemplified by the fact that mental depression and economic depression is called as same signifier ‘depression’. This paper is a kind of thought-experiment to search theoretical pathway for new subjectivity necessary for transition to alternative society in the chaotic turbulence of crises of modern world economy system, starting from a hypothesis that signifier’s coincidence of economic and psychological depression may imply strong interaction between economic crises, social psychology, and individual psychology. Nowadays, it is very difficult to run away, in similar way as before (one-state socialism), from the world capitalist system which has been operating in global scale. Economic crises in the global level would increase so much mental ineffectualness to prolong complications of political economic and mental depression. These complications may induce fascism and war in a similar way as a century ago. In order to overcome such risks, it’s necessary to make a virtuous circle between (1) counter-violence against structural violence, (2) embodiment of dialectic of beauty and sublime for communal affective alliance, (3) communism as a regulative ideal. Active practice to strengthen each content through such virtuous circle would open actual pathway to break through deadlock of chronic political economic depression with mental depression toward alternative society.
