영문 초록

By inquiring into Debbie Han’s Works, I could probe into the signiticance and possibility of the hybridity in the art history. I assured myself that the recreation using hybridity not only plays a role of dynamic and creative momentum but also extends the realm of contemporary art And il also opens a new possibility of arl by exposing our present reality through allegory. Bhabha insists the position of dominant subject is neither stable nor fixed, denying the conventional dichotomy between the white versus the non-while. According to Bhabha, as the space of the differentiation begins to blur the dichotornous structural discrimination of the superior and the inferior, the subversive space deconstructing the dominant power is created. In the space of difference and disruption when the eyes of colonial power are imposed on the dominated’s eyes, the colonial dominant gets a backlash, the subversive return gaze. That is, the resistant eyes cause the disruption between the intention and practice of the colonial discourse, and change into a new colonial space through the ‘differal’, losing the essence of colonial power. Aesthetic perceptions and forms expressing beauty’ differ over time. What is important for the works of heterogeneity may be how to determine an aesthetic value. Susan Son lag once said, “One of the various functions of arts is correction of senses.” In this view, art is not created from nothing, but given in the process of accumulating our human menial achievements. Debbie Han has attempted to mix or deform the contents or forms of cultural elements by making different socio-cultural elements contact or interact with each other, and therefore, the works resulted from this seem to be significant because they are questions about ‘difference and identity’. You may well expect a new vision depicted by the artist’s overthrowing or insight into life.
