영재판별의 대안으로서의 ‘과흥분성’ 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 영재와 일반집단에서의 지능, 정서지능, 창의성, 정서창의성, 과흥분성의 차이를 살펴보고, 영재여부를 탐색함에 있어 일반적으로 많이 활용되어 오던 인지적 측면에서의 지능 및 창의성 이외에 정서지능, 정서창의성 등 정서적 측면 변인들의 가능성을 가늠해보고 이를 통해 특히 과흥분성의 활용가능성을 타진해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권 소재 영재학급 영재학생 57명, 같은 관내 초등학교 일반학생 59명이 연구에 참여하였다. 이를 위해 Raven 도형점진 행렬검사지, 문용린이 개발한 정서지능 검사지, TTCT, Averill과 Thomas-Knowles의 정서창의성 검사지, 김영아가 타당화한 OEQ Ⅱ 검사지가 활용되었다. 연구결과 탐색한 변인들 중 인지적인 측면의 일반지능과 일반창의성이 영재여부를 가장 유의하게 변별하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 과흥분성, 정서지능, 정서창의성 등은 영재여부를 유의하게 변별하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구결과는 영재의 특성이해 및 판별의 맥락에서 그 함의가 논의되었다.

영문 초록

This study is aimed at finding out the differences in general intelligence, emotional intelligence, creativity, emotional creativity, overexcitabilities between the primary gifted and ordinary children. Especially, this study tried to look for the possibilities of the social and emotional aspects using emotional intelligence and emotional creativity tests as well as the overexcitability test to identify the gifted. For the study, 57 primary gifted children who are enrolled in the class for the gifted and 59 ordinary children without any previous gifted education experiences participated. The Raven intelligence test, emotional intelligence test, Torrance test of creativity thinking, Averill & Thomas-Knowlese’s emotional creativity test, and Kim’s OEQ Ⅱ were utilized. The result of this study is as follows. There were significant differences across all cognitive and affective variables assessed in the study. Gifted students showed significantly higher scores in intelligence, emotional intelligence, creativity, emotional creativity, and overexcitability tests. General intelligence and general creativity were the main differences which differentiate the gifted children from the ordinary ones among the utilized tests. However, overexcitability was the better predictor compared to the emotional intelligence and emotional creativity in identifying the gifted, indicating overexcitabiliy may be the possible alternative in assessing the affective and emotional parts of the gifted.
