한국인 대학생과 중국인 유학생의 학업성취도에 미치는 학업적 효능감, 동기조절전략, 성별의 관계 비교

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 한국 지방대학에 재학 중인 한국인 대학생과 중국인 유학생의 국적, 학업적 효능감, 동기조절전략, 성별과 학업성취도 변인과의 구체적인 관계를 알아보고자 다변량 분산분석, 구조방정식 모형을 사용하여 분석하고, 변인의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 다변량 분산분석을 실시한 결과, 중국인 유학생 집단은 한국인 학생집단보다 학업적 효능감, 동기조절전략(흥미강화, 수행적 자기지시, 숙달적 자기지시)에서 평균이 통계적으로 유의하게 높았다. 또한 성별, 동기조절, 국적, 학업성취도와의 관계를 구조방정식 모형을 사용하여 살펴보았을 때, 모형에 들어간 각각의 변인의 효과를 통제한 후, 한국인, 여학생, 동기조절 및 학업적 효능감이 높은 경우가 학업성취도가 높았다. 또한 한국인과 중국인 유학생의 두 집단의 성별과 학업성취도와의 관계를 매개하는 학업적 효능감의 효과를 살펴보았다. 중국인 유학생 집단과는 달리, 한국인 학생들의 경우, 학업적 효능감의 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의하였으며, 두 집단의 매개효과의 크기의 차이는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 한국인 대학생 집단에서의 학업적 효능감의 매개효과는 중국인 유학생 집단에 비해 더 컸다. 그 이유는 중국인 유학생의 경우 성별의 주 효과가 더 이상 나타나지 않으나 한국인의 경우, 성별의 효과가 통계적으로 유의한 것에 기인한다.

영문 초록

This study investigated relationships among academic self-efficacy, motivational regulation strategies, gender, and academic achievement between Chinese and Korean students at a Korean local university. College students life survey data was analyzed using MANOVA and structural equation modeling. Mediational effect of academic self-efficacy was also tested. MANOVA analysis showed that the Chinese students had higher scores than the Korean students in academic self-efficacy, motivational regulation strategies (i.e., interest enhancement, performance self-talk, and mastery self-talk strategies). The relationships among gender, motivational regulation strategies, academic achievement were examined using structural equation modeling. After controlling for the effect of other variables in the model, Korean, female students, students with higher regulation scores and higher academic efficacy respectively was associated with high academic achievement. The two group's mediating effect of academic self-efficacy between gender and achievement was compared. The mediating effect of academic self-efficacy for the Korean group was statistically significantly larger than that for the Chinese group. This is ascribed to the following: With the Chinese students, no main effect of gender on achievement appeared. However, with the Korean students, the main effect of gender on achievement was statistically significant.
