영문 초록

This paper presents the research that was conducted and facts on five inland signal stands located at 100～200m above sea level among 57 signal fire stands in ancient Kyunggi Province including Seoul, Inchon, and Kanghwado. Most of the signal fire stands are distributed at indicated heights above sea level and exactly 20 signal fire stands in total are distributed. Among them, there are 15 places of costal signal fire stands, the majority, and they will be discussed later, since further investigation is required. Among the 5 inland signal fire stands investigated in this study, the Mt. Chunlim signal fire stand in Sungnam and the Donksan signal fire stand in Koyang have been maintained very well; they were recovered as they were in their original condition. Especially as to the former, the excavation research could be conducted after field survey. Through this investigation, it was confirmed that the base of the firepot structure of which the inside had a unique round structure and the firewall had been preserved in almost perfect form as the original ones. They had never been reported before. This study presents the facts on signal fire stands located at 100～ 200m above sea level by separating them according to the itinerary for delivering fire signals, based on various literature and field studies and therein lies the meaning of this research.
