실천적 수학영재성에 대한 초등학생의 자기평가와 교사의 관찰평가 비교연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 실천적 수학영재성에 대한 초등학생의 자기평가와 교사의 관찰평가 결과를 비교하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 관련 선행연구 분석 및 초등학교 교사들을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 결과 분석 등을 통해 학문적 수학영재성과 구별되는 실천적 수학영재성을 개념화 하고, 그것을 측정하기 위한 척도를 개발하였다. 개발한 초등학생용 실천적 수학영재성 검사를 활용하여 서울시 초등학생 497명을 대상으로 실천적 수학영재성에 대한 자기평가를 실시하였으며, 해당 초등학생들의 실천적 수학영재성에 대한 담당 교사 20명의 관찰평가도 실시하였다. 그 결과 초등학생의 자기평가 결과가 교사의 관찰평가 결과에 비해 통계적으로 유의하게 높았으며(p＜.01), 두 평가 결과 간의 단순상관계수는 .421이었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 초등학생의 실천적 수학영재성을 타당하고 신뢰롭게 측정하기 위해서는 교사의 관찰평가와 함께 학생의 자기평가와 같은 다른 방안들도 필요함을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to compare the result of self-reported evaluation of elementary school students and the result of teacher's observation evaluation on practical giftedness of mathematics. For this purpose, literature reviews were conducted and a questionnaire survey was undertaken with elementary school teachers in a way of conceptualize the practical giftedness of mathematics which would be distinguished from the academic giftedness of mathematics and developed the scale to measure such finding. The self-reported evaluation on practical giftedness of mathematics using the scale was undertaken for 497 elementary school students in Seoul and the teacher's observation evaluation was implemented on those students. As a result, the self-reported evaluation result was noticeably higher in statistics compared to the teacher's observation evaluation result (p＜.01), and the simple correlation coefficient between the two evaluations was 0.421 which was lower than our expectation. This result implies that the teacher's observation evaluation alone would be insufficient to measure practical giftedness of mathematics of elementary school students in reasonable and reliable measurement.
