영문 초록

This study includes the exploration of qualitative research in science education in which quantitative research have been dominated. Qualitative research is presented as an alternative method of quantitative method from the perspective of complementary. To understand qualitative research method, three aspects are considerate. First, qualitative research and quantitative research are compared by research logic (i. e., philosophical base) and their own properties are investigated. Second, purposes in qualitative research is included as meaning and understanding, importance of case study, and building grounded theory. Third, it is suggested that qualitative research should be implemented through triangulation for reliability and validity. And application of qualitative research and considerations of researcher are briefly introduced. Today, it is increased to be recognized the necessity of qualitative research in Korean science education. Therefore, we think that it should to be discussed about qualitative research methodology to understand and use it.
