와우이식유아의 의사소통의도 분석

국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 청각장애의 조기진단 및 조기와우이식의 확산으로 와우이식을 받는 아동의 연령이 유아기로 낮아짐에 따라, 유아기의 언어발달 특성 및 평가가 중요한 과제가 되고 있다.정상발달과정에서 유아기 아동의 의사소통의도 분석은 언어발달수준을 평가하고, 이후의 언어발달을 예측 할 수 있는 주요 변인이다. 본 연구는 와우이식을 받은 청각장애유아와 건청유아의 의사소통의도를 비교하여 특성을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 방법: 연구대상은 총27명으로, 와우이식유아, 생활연령일치유아, 언어연령일치유아의 세 집단에 각각 9명씩 선정하였다. 연구대상 유아와 엄마의 상호작용을 녹화, 전사하여 의사소통의도를 평가변인별로측정한 후 집단 간 차이를 변량분석(ANOVA)으로 분석하였다. 의사소통의도의 평가변인은산출빈도, 산출형태율(‘몸짓’, ‘발성’, ‘말’, ‘발성+몸짓’, ‘말+몸짓’), 유형별 산출율(‘요구’, ‘반응’, ‘객관적 언급’, ‘주관적 진술’, ‘메시지 수신표현’, ‘구성요소’, ‘발전된 표현’) 및 유형다양도이다.결과: 와우이식유아집단은 의사소통의도의 관련 평가변인 모두에서 언어연령일치집단과 통계적으로는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았으나 세부적으로 ‘말’과 관련된 질적인 특성들에서 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 생활연령일치집단과는 의사소통의도의 산출빈도, 산출형태율 중‘말+몸짓’의 산출형태율, 유형산출율 중 ‘주관적진술’의 산출율, 유형다양도에서 통계적으로유의한 차이를 보였다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구결과 와우이식유아집단의 의사소통의도와 산출빈 도, 산출형태율, 유형별산출율 및 유형다양도에서 동일 언어연령의 건청아동과 통계적으로는유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 말과 관련된 일부 질적인 특성들에서 언어연령일치집단에 비해 낮은 수준을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 와우이식유아집단의 의사소통의도 발달이 양적으로는 건청아동의 언어발달과 유사하나 질적으로 차이가 있을 수 있음을 시사한다

영문 초록

Background & Objectives: Since communication intention is an important early variable in language development, this study looked at the overall frequency of communicative intentions, rate of communicative modes, rate of communicative intention types and size of communicative intention inventories in children with cochlear implants(CI) compared to both chronological age-matched children and language age-matched children with normal hearing. Method: 27 total children (9 with CI, 9 chronological age-matched, 9 language age-matched) age 17 to 35 months were assessed while interacting with their mothers, then the data analyzed through ANOVA. Results: When compared to normal hearing children of the same chronological age, the overall frequency of communication intention, use of speech-gestures, use of verbal statements and size of communicative intention inventories were all significantly lower in the CI children. However, when compared to normal hearing children of the same language age, CI children showed no significant differences. When compared to language age-matched normal hearing children, the CI group did not show a significant difference in the mode of communication intention—unlike children with hearing aids. Discussion & Conclusion: These results indicate that with early intervention children with cochlear implants will develop normally in terms of communicative intent.
