국문 초록

첫 번째 시집 시 와 두 번째 시집 꽃피는 나무 로 대표되는 호라 시문학의 전반기의 전 단계는 당시 체코 문학에 확산되고 있던 활력주 의와 문명주의의 영향을 강하게 받는다. 하지만 호라는 당시 감각적인 경험에 지나치게 의존하는 활력주의의 편향된 인식론과 문명주의 시의 전적인 객관화 경향을 동시에 극복하고자 한다. 이에 따라 호라는 자신 을 ‘사물들의 한 중앙’, ‘주체이자 객체’라고 규정하면서 삶의 주체로서 의 적극적인 역할을 추구한다. 호라 시문학의 전반기의 후 단계는 시집 노동하는 날 , 가슴 그리 고 세상의 복마전 , 폭풍의 봄 으로 대표되는 프롤레타리아 문학의 시 기인데, 특히 그의 첫 프롤레타리아 시집인 노동하는 날 은 체코 프롤 레타리아 문학의 효시이자 초기 호라 문학의 대표작으로 평가되고 있 다. 이 시집의 프롤레타리아 시들은 노이만의 선동적인 프롤레타리아 시들과도 다르고 볼케르의 강한 페이소스의 시들과도 구별된다. 호라 의 프롤레타리아 시들은 무엇보다도 매우 지적이고 매우 균형적이라는 특징을 갖는다. 그의 프롤레타리아 시는 공감, 연민, 미래에 대한 믿음, 정의와 평등의 실현과 같은 사회 휴머니즘적인 가치들이 중심을 이루 고 있다. 호라 역시 새로운 세상의 도래를 위한 혁명의 필요성을 강조하고 있 다. 하지만 그에게 있어서 혁명은 꼭 물리적인 파괴와 전복을 의미하는 것은 아니다. 그는 정치적, 사회적인 혁명 이전에 인간의 정신적, 도덕 적인 혁명이 먼저 선행되어야 하며, 애정, 사랑, 고향, 자연과 같은 인 간의 기본적이고 항구적인 가치들의 고양과 함양이 먼저 이룩되어야 한다고 주장한다. 호라는 첫 단계의 활력주의와 문명주의 시에서부터 그 다음 단계의 프롤레타리아 시에 이르기까지의 자신의 초기 시에서 이성과 감성, 사 상과 감정, 꿈과 현실, 정신과 물질, 주체와 객체, 개인과 사회와 같은 이원적인 가치 체계를 포함한 세상의 다양한 가치체계와 요소들에 대 한 종합화와 복합화를 부단히 추구한다. 그의 이러한 경향은 그의 후기 시에까지 이어지면서 호라 시 전체의 한 특징으로 자리 매김하고 있다.

영문 초록

Josef Hora(1891-1945) has published his first collection of poetry, entitled The Poetry (Básn ), in 1915 and second collection, entitled The Tree in Blossom (Strom v kv tu), in 1920. These two collections were under the influences of vitalism and civilism, both of artistic movement were introduced into Czech literature by K. S. Neumann just before the World War I. In these collections, however, Hora emphasizes the role of the subject, unlike the overemphasis of the sensual experiences supported by the contemporary vitalists and the total objectivism supported by the contemporary civilists. In his poetry Hora identifies himself as 'the very center of the things' and 'the subject as well as the object'. From 1920 till 1923 Hora has published three collections of proletarian poetry, The Working Day (Pracující den), The Heart and Turmoil of the World (Srdce a v ava sv ta), The Stormy Spring (Bou livé jaro), among them The Working Day being one of the leading Czech proletarian poetry. Hora's proletarian poetry, particularly the verses of the first two collections, has been oriented more to the social humanistic values like sympathy, compassion, belief in the coming future, and realization of justice and equal rights in the world. Hora's proletarian poetry is different from Neumann's more propagandist one as well as from Wolker's more pathetic and more emphatic one. Hora's proletarian poetry distinguish itself by its equilibrium and intelligency. In his poetry Hora has also emphasized the proletarian revolution which will secure new world without unjustice and exploitation of the proletariat. However, Hora's revolution has not meant to be necessarily physical destruction or governmental overturn. According to Hora mental and moral revolution must be preceded the social and political revolution. At the early stage of his poetry from the vitalist poetry through the proletarian poetry Hora has tried to synthesize and harmonize the dualistic values like reason - heart, ideology - emotion, ideal - reality, mind - matter, subject - object and the like. This tendency of his poetry has become a characteristic of Hora's whole poetry.
