국문 초록

본 연구는 국민연금연구원의 『국민노후보장패널』 1,2차년도 자료를 이용하여 우리나라 만 50세 이상의 고령자 세대의 소득분포의 특징을 살펴보고 이를 바탕으로 소득변화의 원인을 의사결정나무모형을 통하여 살펴보았다 분석결과에 의하면, 첫째 고령자 세대의 소득격차는 연령집단이 증가함에 따라 심화되고 있으나 동일 연령집단내의 소득격차는 분석기간 동안 완화되고 있다 둘째, 연령집단이 낮을수록 취업상태를 유지하고 있을 가능성이 높아 소득수준은 전반적으로 높으며 연령집단이 높아질수록 은퇴로 인한 근로소득의 상실이나 취업상태를 유지하더라도 저임금과 비정규직에 근무할 가능성이 높아 이들의 소득수준은 전반적으로 낮게 나타났다 셋째, 고령자 세대의 소득변화는 교육수준과 같은 인적자본이 중요한 요인으로 작동하고 있으며 그 다음으로는 연령과 취업상태의 변화 등이 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다 그리고 고령자 세대의 소득수준을 유지하는데 있어 공적연금의 수급여부가 중요한 역할을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다 이상의 분석결과를 정리하면, 고령자 세대의 노후소득 개선을 위해서는 근로유인 효과를 저해하지 않으면서 적절한 소득을 보장받을 수 있도록 공적 노후소득보장제도가 더욱 강화될 필요가 있다

영문 초록

This study reviewed the income distribution of couples over 50 years of age (if spouseless, then just the individual) using the 1st and 2nd wave of 『Korean Retirement and Income Study』, through which the cause of income change was identified by using the decision tree model According to this study, firstly the differences in income between these aged couples are significant according to their age group, but the difference within each age group is moderate for the period of analysis Secondly, lower the age more likely they are to maintain their employment status, therefore their level of income was higher, but as the age group gets higher, their income levels were shown to be lower respectively as they are more likely to retire or switch to casual employments or low paying jobs even when they are able to maintain employment Thirdly, primarily the aged couples' income change was correlated to their education level Also their age and changes to their employment status were key factors to income change It was also shown that public pension was a very important factor in maintaining the income level In summary, in order to improve the household income for the elderly without hindering their employment opportunities, the public pension programs must be strengthened
