국문 초록

본 연구는 우리 나라 학기제의 변천과정과 그 개편배경을 살펴보고 이를 토대로 현행 학기제의 실태 및 문제점을 검토함으로써 보다 합리적인 학기제 시행의 토대를 마련하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 학기제 논의는 학년도 개시시점, 수업일수, 방학기간 등의 요인을 고려하여 이루어질 수 있는데, 우선 우리 나라 학년도 개시시점은 대체로 개화기에는 추기초, 일제강점기에는 4월, 미군정기에는 9월, 교육법제정기 4월, 군사정부하에서 3월로 변경되었고, 수업일수는 1952년 연간 230일이상에서 1981년 220일이상으로 감축되었으며, 방학기간은 대체로 실제 운영면에서 동기방학이 다른 방학보다 길었다. 학생의 학습량, 학습 리듬 등을 고려한 적절한 수업일수와 아울러 학습 효율을 극대화하고 학생의 지․덕․체의 조화로운 발달을 기하기 위한 적절한 방학기간의 활용이 학기제 논의에서 가장 중심에 놓여야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the development process of school term system and background of each reorganization. And on the basis of the current problems of school term system, to establish the foundation of rational operation of school term system. The discussion of school term system get accomplished in the aspect of the beginning time of a school year, the number of school days, the vacation term, etc. The beginning time of a school year has been changed the beginning autumn(September) in the period of civilization, April under Japanese Colonial Days, September in the period of U. S. Army Military Government, April in the period of establishment of the Law of Education, Spring under the Military Government in 1961. The number of school days has been changed more than 230days for a year in 1952, more than 220days for a year in 1981, but the number of school days in Korea is more than that of other countries. In the vacation term, the vacation term of winter is longer than vacation term of other that. The previous studies of school term system have been presented various proposition of Spring, September, January, February, but in these discussion the most important factor is student. The number of school days is under consideration a quantity of study, a rhythm of study. And the vacation term is under consideration the greatest efficiency of study and the harmonious development of knowledge and virtue and body.
