국문 초록

4년 이상의 기간동안 이루어지는 대학 생활에서 만족감을 느끼며 해당 전공을 성공적으로 이수하기 위해서는 어느 대학에서 어떠한 전공을 선택하여 수학하느냐 하는 문제는 개인적 차원뿐만 아니라 사회, 국가적 차원에서도 매우 중요한 선택이라 할 수 있다. 이에 이 연구는 미국 대학의 전공선택 프로그램 고찰을 통해서 우리나라 상황에 적합한 대학전공선택 프로그램 개발방향에 대한 시사점을 얻는 것을 주된 연구목적이다. 이에 학생들의 전공선택이나 전공전환에 대한 지원이 활발하게 이루어지고 있는 미국 대학의 전공선택 프로그램 사례를 연구 대상으로 하였다. 이 연구는 문헌분석을 바탕으로 6개교 대학에서 운영하는 전공선택 프로그램의 개발방향과 내용요소를 분석하였다. 미국 대학의 전공선택 프로그램은 전공선택(전공전환 포함)을 위해 전공과 관련 중요한 정보의 획득, 분석을 통한 의사결정 능력을 신장을 목적으로 하고, 주로 단선형의 형태이며, ⑴미래 삶의 모습 구상, ⑵과거의 의사결정방법 평가, ⑶자신에 대한 탐색 및 이해, ⑷일의 세계 탐색 및 이해, ⑸대학, 전공 탐색 및 이해, ⑹의사결정을 통한 전공선택, ⑺계획수립, 행동, 평가로 구성되어 있으며, 전공선택 및 전공전환을 하려는 대학생을 대상으로 하고 있었다. 그리고 7개의 영역별로 각 대학의 프로그램 구성단계, 내용요소, 문제점을 도출하였다. 이를 통해서 우리나라 학생들의 전공선택 프로그램 개발에 주는 시사점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

To be satisfied with campus life and go though curriculums successfully for 4 years, it is a very significant selection where students should select their colleges and what they should take courses for individual dimension and national dimension for them and their country. This study was to derive some implications for developmental directions of college selection major programs appropriated in Korean educational situation through reviewing college selection major programs in US. Thus, objects of this study were U.S. college selection major programs which were strongly supported for major selection or change. By reviewing literatures, this study analyzed developmental directions and content factors of college selection major programs at 6 colleges in US. The purpose of college selection major programs in US was to obtain important information related to major and improve decision making skills. Also, most of the programs were found to be linear, and consisted of ⑴ recognition of future life, ⑵ evaluating decision making of past, ⑶ self-understanding and exploring ⑷ understanding and reflection of business world, ⑸ understanding and exploring of colleges and majors, ⑹ major selecting through decision making, ⑺ planning, performance, evaluation. And the target of these programs was college students who wanted to select or change their majors. Through these literature review, this study deduced each college's program process step, content factors, and problems by 7 domains. Through these results, this study also deduced implications about college selection major programs for Korean students.
