『梵網經』異本을 통한 고려대장경과 돈황 유서 비교 연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 梵網經 (K. 0527, T. 1484)에 대해 돈황사본, 고려 초조대장경, 그리고 고려 재조대장경의 다른 판본들을 대조하여, 범망경의 구성과 성립 과정에 대해 시사점을 가지는 문헌상의 몇 가지 특징들을 제시하고자 한다. 범망경은 5세기경 중국에서 성립된 위경이며, 대승보살계를 설하는 주요 경전으로 동아시아 불교의 계율사상 형성에 핵심이 되는 문헌이다. 본 연구에서는 50종 총 342 점에 이르는 돈황사본을 활용하여 이들 사본과 인경본들을 검토한 결과 범망경은 그 글자의 출입이 상당하며 오랜 시일을 거쳐 많은 교열 과정을 거친 것으로 여겨진다. 고려대장경 재조본은 상권·하권이 모두 존재하는 반면, 초조본은 하권만 존재하는 등, 판본에 따라 경전의 수록 범위도 다르며, 글자 교열을 통해서 내용의 수정도 가해져서 흥미로운 다양한 양상을 보인다. 이같이 필사본과 인쇄본 등을 대조 연구함으로써 상이한 매체에 따라 어떻게 지식이 교정되고 선택되며 표준이 정립되어 가는지에 대한 추정이 가능하다.

영문 초록

This study aims to present notable characteristics identified in various recensions of the Fanwangjing (K. 0527, T. 1484) by conducting a comparative examinations of the many Dunhuang manuscripts and the first and the second-editions of the Tripitaka Koreana. The Fanwangjing, an apocrypha Buddhist text, presumably created around 5th century China, is a popular sutra in East Asian Buddhism, famous as a major textual source that systematically presents the Mahayana Bodhisattva precepts. Over time, significant corrections were made, hence the breadth of changes to the contents, and even the range of the inclusion of texts varied depending on the versions. By investigating these exciting features of diversity and variation, we were able to come up with an explanation about the course of the life of the Fanwangjing, presenting an interesting case study of how knowledge can be distributed differently according to the different media, how it can be corrected and selected in order to make a standard version that asserts an authenticity both in the form and contents it provides.
