민국시기 고등교육의 변화와 의의

국문 초록

본 연구는 정치·사회·문화적으로 격동기이자 전환기였고, 교육적으로 고등교육이 본격적으로 실행되었던 민국시기를 중심으로 고등교육의 상황과 의의를 알아보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 먼저 민국시기에 일어났던 고등교육 관련사건 등을 중심으로 북양정부시기(1912∼1928)와 남경민국정부시기(1928∼1949)로 구분하여, 민국시기 고등교육의 특징과 의미를 교육법령과 학제의 변화, 고등교육이념의 변화라는 두 가지 측면에서 살펴보았다. 이 시기에는 다양한 개혁을 통해 변화를 시도했고 법규와 법령 등이 정비되었으며, 본격적인 근대학제로의 전환이 일어났다. 그리고 학교교육이 양적으로 증가했으며, 서양의 고등교육을 중국에 도입하여 적용시켰다. 고등교육이념의 변화 측면에서는 다양한 교육사상이 나타났고, 그 영향으로 다양한 교육모델을 현실에 적용하려는 움직임이 일어났다. 이러한 움직임은 사회변화를 주도했고, 교육 평등권을 강조하여 여자 교육의 개혁과 개방을 유도하였다.

영문 초록

This study is to investigate the situation and significance of higher education, focusing on the Republican China age, a rapidly changing and transition era in terms of politics, society when culture and higher education was conducted to some extent. First, incidents related to higher education during the age were examined by dividing two periods; the Beiyang Government between 1912 and 1928 and the Nanking Government between 1928 and 1949. By doing this, features and significance of higher education during the Republican China age were examined in two terms: changes in education laws and school system and changes in ideology of higher education. During the age, changes were attempted through various reforms and statutes and regulations were organized, and transition to full-scale modern tertiary education system occurred. School education increased quantitatively and western higher education was applied to China. In terms of changes in ideology of higher education, various education thoughts made their appearances and this led to actions to apply various education models to the reality. Also, higher education led social changes and reform and opening of women's education were induced with the emphasis on education equality.
