노인의 학습경험에서 도출한 노인완성학습으로서의 노인학습 개념에 대한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 노인복지관의 노인대학, 종교기관의 노인대학 그리고 노인복지관등에서 학습하는 노인학습자 15명의 생애사를 내러티브 면담하여 새로운 인생의 기회인 노년기를 창출해나가는 학습과정을 탐색하고, 학습자의 유형을 4가지로 도출하여 노인학습의 개념을 살펴보았다. 노인의 학습경험은 평생학습자, 문화창조자, 생산적 학습자, 그리고 자신의 정체성을 재구성해나가는 생애사적 학습자로 분석되었다. 노인은 환경과의 상호작용 속에서 의미있고 성공적인 노년기 창출을 위하여 자기성찰에 의하여 적극적인 활동을 계획하고, 학습능력을 개발하며, 생산성을 나타내며, 역량을 개발하는 학습의 주체로 나타났다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 노인학습이 노화의 과정 속에서, 지식을 습득하고, 잠재된 역량을 개발하고, 인생의 전 과정을 성찰하면서, 자신의 정체성을 확립하고 새로운 인생의 기회인 노년기를 계획하는 자기완성학습(self-integrated learning)으로 활성화될 것을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This research is based upon biographical and narrative interview with 15 elderly learners who study at the elderly universities in welfare centers or religious institutions and the elderly welfare centers. Through these interviews, we investigated their learning process of making senior life as an opportunity for a new life, and searched the concept of elderly learning derived from classifying them into four types. The elderly's learning experiences are analyzed into four types as follows: lifelong learners, elderly culture creators, productive learners, and learners who reconstruct their identity. The elderly learners appear that they can plan positive activities through self-reflection, develop learning abilities, enhance productive powers and improve capabilities, in order to make meaningful and successful senior life in the process of interrelation with their environments. Therefore, this study suggests that elderly learning should be revitalized into self-integrated learning for elderly, which can help them acquire knowledge, develop potential power, introspect their whole life, establish identity, and plan their senior life as new chance, in the course of aging.
