In the western religion, mythology and history, love was represented in the various ways. In the European historical process of Christianity, love was changed from Agape, God's absolute love for man, into Platonic ideal love. In Greek and Roman mythologies, Eros was transfigured from the creative original force in which Chaos and Gaia had created the world of many particular things into the son of Venus, the goddess of beauty and
desire, who is becoming a naughty boy, Cupid playing love games. And in the western human history, Philos of the first manhood without gods was changed into another concepts of friendship and philosophy according to the
changing process of human history.
As one concept of love had changed into another concepts, Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan and Gilles Deleuze are different from each others in the naming of love(Oedipus, Phallus, and Dark Precursor presented by Philos), but they are agreed with each others in Libido which Deleuze called Freudian discovery of it into "the intellectual revolution of 20th century." One of triology cinemas made by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Amores Perros(2000, Mexico) presents three love stories showing M exican socializing images of Oedipus, Phallus and Philos. Three characters representing three images have sexual libidos together, but they are making, in their social situations, of different love styles in which Octvio loves his old sister-in-law Susana, a successful magazine publisher Daniel leaves his family to live with the Spanish super-model Valeria. Their loves representing Oedipus and Phallus destroies in the end their lives.
But El Chivo, who is an ex-private school teacher involving in guerrilla movements that led him to be jailed for 20 years, appears in the film as a bedraggled, nearly invisible homeless man pushing a junk cart accompanied
by a half-dozen mongrel dogs that he cares for. In cinema, El Chivo is in fact a professional hitman. At times throughout his story, Chivo tries to make contact with his daughter, Maru, whom he abandoned when she was
a child and who believes he is dead. But because he realizes that his social being makes of Maru and her mother, his ex-wife, as if a homeless dog Cofi is killing of a half-dozen mongrel dogs, he leaves his city to live with a homeless dog in the wasteland. In the end of cinema, we can imagine that he will make of different loves at times when he will come back to his city and social life. And we have to conclude that their loves are not Oedipus or Phallus, but they are all a circling process of becoming Oedipus, Phallus and Philos by Libido through Dark Precursor according to their cultural time and space.
