국문 초록

  마르크스는 자본주의적 자본축적과 기술변화의 경로 상에서 이윤율이 경향적으로 저하한다고 주장하였지만, 이 명제는 마르크스와 이후 마르크스주의 경제학자들에 의하여 엄격하게 증명된 것이 아니다. 더욱이 1961년 발표된 오키시오 정리가 이 명제의 유효성에 대하여 의문을 제기한 이후, 이와 관련된 대부분의 논의는 오키시오 정리에 대한 反例를 구축하는데 집중되었다. 이에 반하여 우리는 엄격한 수학적 논리에 의하여 이윤율 저하 경향을 입증하고자 하였다. 우선 우리는 고정자본이 존재하고 설비가동률이 가변적인 경제에서 자본-산출 비와 산출-노동 비가 시간 상에서 지속적으로 증가할때, 가속도원리와 유효수요이론을 결합하여 도출된 균형성장경로 상에서 이윤율이 경향적으로 하락한다는 것을 논증하였다. 또한 오키시오 정리에 근거한 비판이 고정자본 모형에서 전개된 우리의 논의에 대하여 유효하지 않다는 것을 설명하였다.

영문 초록

  Marx proposed the tendency of falling rate of profits to explain the ultimate and necessary decline of capitalist economy. However, this proposition has not been proved and its validity has been questioned since the publication of Okishio theorem. This paper presents a mathematical proof of the tendency of falling rate of profits. Our arguments are based on the following devices. In the first place, we decompose into two terms what Marx proposed as a typical pattern of technical changes in capitalistic accumulation, i.e. the rising organic composition of capital. One is the dynamic path of capital-output ratio, and the other is the dynamic path of output-labor ratio. Secondly, we put together Kalecki’s theory of effective demand and Harrodian accelerator. It brings out an equilibrium growth path along with the above two time paths of technical changes. Finally, we examine the phase function of profit rate on the equilibrium growth path. Our arguments also suggest that Okishio theorem is founded on specific properties of fixed-coefficient circulating capital model. As Okishio theorem cannot be generalized into the economy of variable capacity utilization, our argument of falling rate of profits is free from Okishio-type critiques.
