정상외교로 본 한국과 중동의 새로운 경제협력관계

영문 초록

  President Roh Moo-hyun visited Egypt(March 6～March 9), Nigeria(3.9～11), Algeria(3.11～13), Mongolia(5.7～5.10), Azerbaijan(5.10～12), UAE(5.12～14) for the summit diplomacy in this year. Among the hosting countries Egypt, Algeria and UAE are the Middle East countries. Of these hosting countries UAE is the only one having the second summit after the former Korea President Choi Kyu-Hah"s visit 25 years ago.
  The main object of summit diplomacy is related to establish new cooperation with the hosting countries in various fields. Korea is the very potential and dynamic country in terms of the compressed economic development and democracy. All the hosting countries want to benchmark Korea"s development strategy and experiences, and need strategic cooperation in field of IT industry, plant construction and energy cooperation.
  Many Korea"s cooperative objects are transformed from the traditional issues such as the inter-Korea problems during the cold era to the substantial efforts to improve bilateral ties, especially on the economic frontier such as energy, resource, trade, investment, ODA, IT, military industry, culture and tourism.
  All the hosting countries eagerly want to cooperate with Korea in the fields of energy and resources, infrastructure and plant construction, IT industry, etc. To satisfy the needs of the hosting countries Korea has to prepare to share development experiences through providing ODA effectively. For the achievement of "Korea initiative for Africa development" by declared the President Roh"s Africa summit diplomacy, Korean society has to cooperate with the NGOs in and out of the country, and drive to enhance the national image and endeavor to create the Korea bland in the development cooperation.
