Q방법을 활용한 장애 인식에 대한 연구

국문 초록

  이 연구는 사회복지분야에서 아직은 우선순위가 되지 못하고 있는 장애인 복지에 대한 관심과 우리사회의 장애 및 장애인에 대한 태도나인식을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 심층면접을 바탕으로 Q방법을 활용한 질적 연구를 실시하였다.
  이 연구가 사회복지연구임을 고려하여 장애인 및 장애인식에 대한 심리적, 사회적, 제도적 영역으로 구분하여, 34개의 진술문(Q표본)과 36명의 응답자(P표본)의 Q분류(sort)를 바탕으로 분석한 결과 3가지 유형이 추출되었다. 즉, 〈유형 Ⅰ〉은 중증장애인부터 중도장애인, 장애인과의 생활 경험이 없는 응답자까지 두루 구성하였다. 이들은 주로 제도 및 정책적 차원의 지원 필요성을 강조하였다. 〈유형 Ⅱ〉는 중도장애이거나 가족중 장애인을 둔 응답자가 주로 구성되었다. 특히 이 유형에서는 장애에 따른 심리적？사회적 갈등이 많았음을 나타냈다. 〈유형 Ⅲ〉은 주로 장애인과의 생활경험이 없는 응답자, 동료 또는 복지관련 업무 종사자 등으로 구성되었다. 이 유형에서는 장애인은 도움이 필요한 존재로 인식하고 있고, 제도적 지원 등에서의 필요성을 강조하였다. 한편, 장애인의 경우는 장애의 정도에 따라서, 비장애인의 경우는 장애인과의 생활경험 정도에 따라서 인식에 차이를 나타냈다. 이는 장애인과의 생활경험이 있는 경우 장애인의 현실적인 문제를 보다 잘 이해하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
  이 연구는 장애인 스스로가 인식하고 있는 개인적 차원과 비장애인이 인식하고 있는 장애인식에 대한 사회적 차원을 고려하였다. 분석결과에서도 볼 수 있듯이 여전히 우리사회의 올바르지 못한 장애 및 장애인에 대한 인식의 문제, 다양한 제도 미비 문제 등을 강조하였다. 따라서 향후 보다 적극적인 제도적 지원의 타당성을 제기할 연구와 더불어 그들이 체감할 수 있는 제도 및 정책적 지원 효과를 기대해본다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this study is to investigate the perception on disability and disabled people, and how the interest in disability welfare is still lacking compared to other social-welfare areas. This study systematically analyzes the subjective perception on disability and disabled people through depth interviews using the Q-methodology.
  AS this is a social-welfare study, the perception on disability included psychological, social, and institutional categories. 34 Q-statements were sampled from the Q-concourse, a 34 Q-statements were sorted by 36 people called P-samples or P-sorters. The results are follows. First, type Ⅰ represented the sensitive response on the policy of social welfare. They demanded the institutional and political support. Type Ⅱ had the negative perception in psychological and social categories that included the relationship with families, and the marriage and sex problem. Type Ⅲ had the thinking that disabled people were to need the helping like traditional perceptions. Second, disabled people and general people showed a difference in the perception of disability according to the living experience with disabled people. Because disabled people and families undergo actual problems, and feel difficulties more directly.
  This study investigated the perception of disability in the individual dimension of disabled people and the social dimension of general people. The results emphasize the lack of institutional and political system and the negative perception of disability and disabled people. More study into ways that institutionalized and political support may be promoted is called for.
