국문 초록

  본 연구는 한국과 대만의 제조 중소기업을 대상으로 성과 결정요인을 비교ㆍ분석하였다. 이를 위해 2002년 2월부터 2004년 2월까지 제조업종에 속한 한국의 408개 및 대만의 98개 중소기업으로부터 설문자료를 수집하였다. LISREL을 이용한 확인적 요인분석 결과 최고경영자 특성, 경영전략 특성, 조직구조 특성, 그리고 관리시스템 특성이 중소기업의 성과를 설명하는 주요 요인으로 밝혀졌다. 한국과 대만 중소기업의 성과 결정요인을 비교ㆍ분석한 결과, 한국 중소기업에 있어서는 경영전략 및 조직구조 요인이 중소기업의 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 대만 중소기업의 경우 최고경영자 특성과 관리시스템 특성이 국제경쟁력에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 결과가 나타나게 된 이유를 한국과 대만에서의 중소기업의 구조, 경제체계 및 정책, 기업문화, 그리고 중소기업 육성정책 등에 있어서의 공통점과 차이점의 측면에서 설명하고 있다. 나아가 본 연구결과의 이론적 및 실무적 시사점, 한계 및 미래 연구방향 등을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

  This research compares and analyses determinants of performance of manufacturing SMEs between Korea and Taiwan. To achieve the goal, the study has conducted a research by collecting questionnaire data of 408 Korean manufacturing related SMEs and 98 Taiwanese"s. Results showed the research model was valid. In other words, characteristics of top management, corporate strategy, organizational structure, and management system are proved to be critical determinants of performance of SMEs. As a consequence of comparison and analysis between Korean and Taiwanese SMEs, corporate strategy and organizational structure were more influential determinants to Korean SMEs" performance. Reversely for Taiwanese SMEs" performance, characteristics of top management and management system were more convincing than other variables where corporate strategy and organizational structure were less effective. This study indicates both theoretical and practical implications. In a context of theoretical implication, there need to a management by paradox. At the end, the study suggests research limitations, future research directions as well as research propositions based on organizational theory and business strategy.
