국문 초록

  이 연구의 목적은 노인들이 노인대학이라는 곳에서 보이는 학습일상을 살피는 것이다. 2004년 1월부터 동년 12월까지 문화기술적 연구의 주요 방법인 참여관찰 및 면담을 통하여 얻은 연구자료를 연구의 목적에 맞게 수정ㆍ보완하였다. 연구자료는 Spradley(1980)의 연구모델을 통하여 분석되었다. 그 결과, 노인들은 학습 일상 속에서 다음과 같은 의미체계를 만들어갔다. 첫째, 그들은 다양한 학습 프로그램에 참가함으로써 학습하는 즐거움을 느꼈다. 이는 그들로 하여금 ‘학습인’으로 변신케 하였다. 둘째, 노인들이 참여하는 다양한 여가활동은 이들을 여가의 소비자에서 ‘여가의 생산자’로 거듭 나게 하였다. 셋째, 노인들은 동료 노인과 강사, 행정진, 지역사회와의 관계망 속에서 ‘사회적 지지기제’를 만들어 갔다. 넷째, 그들은 여러 봉사활동 및 세대공동체교육을 통하여 ‘존경받는 어르신’으로서의 역할을 체득하고 있었다. 노인들은 지혜로운 학습활동을 통해서 삶의 여유로움을 만끽하기도 하고 삶의 질을 향상시킨다는 결론을 얻었다.

영문 초록

  This study started as an effort to illuminate the context and the meaning of senior citizens" learning which was focused on the various programs adopted by a specific educational facility for the elderly. I used an ethnographic study method, adapting it for the purpose of this study, participant observation and interview was used for from January 2003 to February and the results are analysed by Spradley"s(1980) research model.   I divided the daily life of senior citizens" learning into four categories. First of all, I found that the elderly enjoyed the pleasure of learning by taking part in the various programs. And the aged people interpreted their leisure anew. They experienced perspective transformation through by involving in leisure programs. Also, the aged people form a network by being involved in the same age group, which in turn forms a mechanism of a social supporting relationship. Finally, they tried to have authority over the community and other generations.   I concluded that the senior people improve their daily life both quantitatively and qualitatively by getting involved learning activities. As a result, there have to be a variety of high-quality supportive systems for the learning of the elderly. Because this in turn changed their ways of life in the process of upgrading the quality of life.
