In the conventional traditions of Korean literature, epics and lyrics are not the separated genres but correlative or multi-genre system. The epic shamanistic songs also have this kind of correlative characteristic and multi-genre system which have epic story and are recited as shamanistic songs.
The epic shamanistic songs in the Eastern Coast of Korea use the accommodated songs as an significant device to elevate the lyrical aspect. This is one of the principles in making the oral traditional epics and generalized as the extension of the formula theory. The accommodated songs are the most certain device to show the lyrical aspect in the epic shamanistic songs. And these songs make both the performer and the audience boost the lyrical atmosphere, feel the emotional unity, and share the experience making the cultural community.
Among the studies on the accommodated songs in the shamanistic songs are : the study on the theory of making the oral traditional poems by Seo, Dae-seuk, the study on the Cheongchunga and the Changbutaryung which are the inserted songs in the Byeulshingutt by Yee, No-hyeung, and the study of the inserted songs in the in the eastern coast which is the precedented part of this study, which are not nearly enough. In the precedented studies, the terms 'the inserted songs' or 'the inserted poems' were adopted, but this study use the term 'the accommodated songs', since songs are accommodated and adjusted to the story and reciting situations of the eastern coast epic shamanistic songs, the main text in this study.
This study is to prove three aspects. First, this study is to prove that the accommodated songs in the epic shamanistic songs are used as the device to promote the lyrical aspect of the poetry. Secondly, the fact that the accommodated songs are adopted and included in the epic shamanistic songs extends the epic aspect and the literary character of the epic shamanistic songs, not weaken that of the epic shamanistic songs. And then, since the aspect of adopting the accommodated songs has much to do with the situation of performing the songs, especially with the reactions of the audience, the character of the performing literature of shamanistic songs is to be found out by going over the way the accommodated songs are adopted.
First of all, the conception and character of the accommodated songs are to be inferred in the chapter Ⅱ. In the chapter Ⅲ, on the basis of the chapter Ⅱ, the pattern of the accommodated songs adopted in the texts and the distribution of the songs among the eastern coast epic shamanistic songs are to be analyzed.
In the fourth chapter, how the accommodated songs in the eastern epic shamanistic songs are accepted and changed will be investigated. In the fifth chapter, the patterns of the accommodated songs derived from the chapter Ⅲ will be systematized and analyzed based on the admittance and changing aspect investigated in the chapter Ⅳ. And finally in the chapter Ⅵ, on the basis of the findings of the chapter Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ, the function of the accommodated songs, which is divided into the inner function of the text and the function of the context, will be investigated. On the conclusion of the investigations, the significance of the accommodated songs in the epic shamanistic songs is to be inferred in the relation with the characteristic of the performing literature having the correlation with the performance spot.
and , the representative shamanistic songs with the distribution all over the country, are adopted as the main texts of this study, and among them confined to the Eastern Coast version which shows the active use of the accommodated songs and reflects the performing situations.
