정서ㆍ행동 관심군 고등학생을 지도한 담임교사의 심리적 어려움에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 현상학적 질적 연구방법을 사용하여 고등학교 담임교사가 정서·행동 관심군 고등학생을 지도하면서 경험하는 심리적 어려움의 내용과 본질적 의미를 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 C도시의 고등학교에서 근무하고 있는 담임교사 8명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 면담을 통하여 수집된 자료는 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법에 따라 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 7개의 본질적 주제와 27개의 드러난 주제로 도출되었다. 도출된 7개의 본질적 주제는 ‘불안으로 다가오는 위기 학생’, ‘협력할 수 없는 학부모’, ‘스트레스와 정체감 혼란에 빠진 담임교사’, ‘바닥을 치는 몸과 마음’, ‘자신을 지키기 위한 노력’, ‘학생과 함께 하는 성장의 시간’, ‘새로운 변화를 위한 기대’이다. 결과를 바탕으로 정서·행동 관심군 고등학생을 지도한 담임교사의 심리적 어려움에 관한 현상학적 대주제는 ‘불안과 혼란 속에서 어려움을 극복하고 성장을 통해 자신의 길을 만들어 가다’로 규명하였다. 결과를 토대로 고등학교 담임교사들의 심리적 어려움을 이해하고 심리적 소진을 예방할 방안 및 본 연구의 시사점 등과 함께 후속 연구에 대한 제언 등이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to explore the experiences of the psychological difficulties among high school homeroom teachers while supporting high school students identified as having emotional and behavioral concerns. Using a phenomenological qualitative research method, in-depth interviews were conducted with eight homeroom teachers from high schools in City C. The data were analyzed following Giorgi's phenomenological research method, resulting in seven essential themes and 27 categories. The seven essential themes are as follows: ‘Students in crisis approaching with anxiety’, ‘Parents who cannot cooperate’, ‘Homeroom teachers trapped in stress and identity confusion’, ‘Body and mind hitting rock bottom’, ‘Efforts to protect oneself’, ‘Growth time shared with students’, and ‘Expectations for new changes’. Based on these results, the overarching phenomenological theme encapsulating the teachers’psychological difficulties was identified as ‘Overcoming difficulties in anxiety and confusion, and creating one’s own path through growth’. Based on the results, the study discusses implications for future research and strategies to better understand and mitigate psychological distress and burnout among high school homeroom teachers.
