지속가능성을 담은 박물관교육 탐색

국문 초록

지속가능성은 사회적으로 대두되어 2022년 박물관 정의에 반영되었는데, 이미 박물관교육 분야에서는 앞서가며 실천하고 있었다. 물론 박물관 전반적으로 실천하고자 하는 지속가능성은 박물관의 인류와 자연의 범위에서 목적을 두고 있으며, 박물관교육 환경에서도 가능한 실천적 범위에서 확장되고 있었다. 본 연구에서는 ICOM WGS(International Council of Museums Working Group on Sustainability)와 ICOM Best Practices를 통해 박물관교육 전문가들이 공유하고 실천할 수 있는 틀을 살펴보고자 했다. 그 과정에서 첫째, 박물관의 지속가능성과 박물관교육은 어떤 연관성을 형성하는지에 관한 내용을, 둘째, 좀 더 좁은 범위에서 박물관교육의 지속가능성을, 셋째, 지속가능한 박물관교육 실천 현장으로서의 전시연계와 지역사회를 중심으로 제시하고, 마지막으로 Best Practices 문항 연구를 통해 박물관교육 담당자의 역량을 강화해서 박물관교육의 지속가능성을 살펴보았다. 박물관의 지속가능성을 실천하는 과정에서 박물관교육은 세부적으로 그 방법을 연구해왔다. 왜냐하면 박물관교육이 이용자들과 가장 가깝고 그들을 위한 활동 영역이 특수하기 때문이다. 다소 범위를 좁힌 전시연계와 지역사회를 통한 활동에 대한 문항을 살폈지만, 그 깊이에서는 박물관의 문화교육활동은 무엇인가에 대한 고민이 있다. 그래서 Best Practices에서는 모든 프로그램 설계에 선행해서 소속된 박물관의 미션과 비전부터 문화교육활동의 정의까지 매번 고려하도록 하고 있다. 지속가능성은 결국 우리가 하는 박물관교육 활동이 무엇인지 생각해보게 한다.

영문 초록

The Sustainability has emerged as a social issue and has been reflected in the 2022 definition of museums, and it is already trying to take the lead in the field of museum education. The purpose of sustainability in the museum as a whole is clear, and it has been expanded to the extent possible in the museum education environment. This study is aimed to examine the framework that museum education professionals can share and practice through ICOM WGS and Best Practices. In the process, first, the content on the relationship between museum sustainability and museum education was presented, second, the sustainability of museum education was presented in a narrower scope, third, exhibition linkage and local community as a site of sustainable museum education practice, and lastly, the sustainable field of museum education was examined through reflection on the competencies of museum educators. In the process of practicing museum sustainability, museum education has been studying the method in detail. This is because museum education is closest to its users and its activities are specialized. Although we examined the questions about exhibition related programs and activities within the local community, which are somewhat narrowed in scope, there is a question of what is the cultural education activity of the museum. Therefore, Best Practices requires that all program designs should be preceded by consideration of the mission and vision of the museum to the definition of cultural and educational activities. Sustainability, in turn, makes museum professionals think about museum education is.
